Ewing "Lue" Metoyer, 103, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on October 23, 2023 after a long, fulfilling life.

Lue was born on January 11, 1920 to Nazy "Mama Nazy" and St. Claire "Papa Pete" Metoyer in Derry, Louisiana.

Lue served in the United States Armed Forces in World War Il from 1941 to 1945. He reflected on his time serving his country domestically and abroad as a great privilege and opportunity.

After the war, he moved to Chicago and married Irene in 1946. In 1948, they went on to have a son, Stan.

Lue started working for Greyhound bus company as a mechanic upon his arrival in Chicago. He progressed in his career at Greyhound. Greyhound approached him many times to promote him to management, but to a man who liked to fix things, that didn't feel much like a promotion. He loved his work as a mechanic but loved to travel more, so he retired in 1976.

Lue began investing in real estate in 1949. He worked hard by day as a mechanic and by night “working on his buildings”. Lue loved road trips and drove across the country well into his 90s. Lue also liked to dance and was a member of the Chicago Windy City Jitterbug Club up until he was 93 in 2013. He found joy in simple everyday things and was an eternal optimist. He had the ability to see good in everyone and to know the opportunity that every tomorrow held.

Lue was predeceased by his wife, Irene, parents and his eleven siblings Amanda, Edward, John, St. Clair Jr. (Dute), Emma, Anthony, Samuel, James, Marcus, Landry, and Vilfried. He is survived by his son Stan; daughter-in-law, Susie; Grandchildren Sean (Yvette) and Sharee (Brad); Great Grandchildren David, Dylan, David, Sarah, Charlotte, and Samantha; Godchildren Pinkie, Bonnie, Nazy, Edgar, Lisa, Ron, and Caroline; and countless friends, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He'd be mad that we didn't list everyone. He adored his friends and family.

Services will be held at St. John Berchmans Church (2517 West Logan Blvd., Chicago, IL 60647) on November 4, 2023. Visitation at 10:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Lue’s ashes will eternally rest with Irene at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery (1400 South Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL) as their souls dance through the gates of heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) in his memory. Please go to TAPS.org/Donate to make a Memorial Gift in his name.

Lillian Kochinsky LeCoure was born August 28, 1931, to the late Harvey Kochinsky and Daisy Wheeler Kochinsky on Old River in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. In her family she was affectionately known as “Sissy”.

Sissy attended and graduated in May of 1950 from Holy Rosary in Lafayette, Louisiana of which she was such a proud Alumni. She was captain of the basketball and tennis teams. She was always willing to show her shooting skills to boys who played in the alley on Adams Street. She was also a wonderful dancer. When she would enter a dance hall with her brother Harvey, everyone would clear the floor.

She moved to Chicago in 1951. She began dating Joseph (Bud) Calvin LeCoure who had also relocated from her hometown area. They were married on August 2, 1952 at Saint Agatha Church. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year. Sissy and Bud were blessed with five children. They settled on the westside of Chicago and spent most of their lives on Adams Street.

She will be fondly remembered for her no-nonsense attitude toward life. This led to her many accomplishments. She worked at Sears Roebuck & Co for 25 years. She was active at St. Mel’s/St. Martin DePorres Church where she was on the Credit Union board and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was the fiercely protective matriarch to all who lived at and visited the Adams Street home. Many sought her advice because she always told you what you needed to hear and not what you wanted to hear. Lillian was very sharp which allowed her to quickly read into any situation with a razor sharp wit that left those around her laughing. Her many witticisms will never be forgotten.
On December 2, 2021, the Good Lord called and she was ready.

Lillian was proceeded in death by her son Rodney LeCoure, two great grandchildren, Aylissa Below, Joshua Hargrave, two sisters, Elvina Kochinsky and Daisy Sarpy, three brothers, John Kochinsky, Larry Kochinsky and Gene Kochinsky.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Calvin, her children Angelique Parker (Michael), Joseph (Linda), Alesia Nelson (Dennis), Eric and daughter in law Cynthia. 17 grandchildren – Elvina Hargrave, William Hargrave, Ariel Hargrave, Michael Parker, John Paul LeCoure, Denise Nelson, Daphne Nelson, Sharonda LeCoure, Sharmin LeCoure, Pierre LeCoure, Tefanie Below, Brandy LeCoure, Rodney LeCoure, Slayter LeCoure, Erica LeCoure, Elise LeCoure and Eric LeCoure Jr., 27 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. Her siblings, Doris Kochinsky, Janet Jones and Harvey Kochinsky. Four brother in laws and six sister in laws and so many nieces and nephews that she always had a special bond with, especially the Adams kids.

Norma Theresa “Topsy” Balthazar Mullon was born on January 12, 1936 to Bernard Balthazar Sr. and Theresa LaCour Balthazar in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Natchitoches.
Norma was affectionately called “Topsy” by her family and friends from Natchitoches. That nickname was given to her because her dad would take her for drives thru Natchitoches in his car when she was a toddler. She was so little, all people could see when they drove past was the top of her head. So, everyone called her Topsy. Those of you from Natchitoches know that virtually everyone had a nickname. At times it was hard to remember their real name.
She graduated from St. Anthony School in Natchitoches and Holy Rosary High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. She then attended St. Mary School of Nursing in St Louis, Missouri and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1957. In 1978, obtained her B.S. in Nursing from St. Francis Xavier in Joliet Illinois. A firm believer in both the power of education and the Catholic religion, Norma also received a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in 2002.
After graduation from St. Mary’s, Norma moved to Chicago and worked as a RN at Michael Reese Hospital. She then met the love of her life, Joseph B. Mullon Jr. in Chicago and married on April 7, 1958.
Four children were born to this union: Joseph III, Wayne, Cecilia and Gregory. In 1968, her youngest child Gregory, died from walking pneumonia at the age of 4. That was a terrible loss however the family kept his memory alive.
Once her children got older, Norma started working as a Nurse again. She worked at several places throughout her career: South Chicago Hospital, Jackson Park Hospital, Michael Reese Hospital, BMO Harris Bank as Director of Medical Services and -retired as a Chicago Public School District Nurse.
Norma was a devoted Catholic since childhood. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, and active on many of the church committees beginning with her arrival at St. Ailbe Church in August 1966 to her relocation to California in July 2020. Norma, Lady of Grace, Ladies of Peter Claver, 4th Degree, Court 181 was an avid member of the St. Ailbe/St. Felicitas Court No. 181 of the Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver for many years. She was also instrumental in starting the Illinois Chapter of Compassionate Friends, an organization that helps families deal with the loss of a child. This was done in memory of her son, Gregory.
Norma was a very giving person and helped anyone she could. She truly cared for others and cherished her family and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Joseph B Mullon Jr, son Gregory Mullon, parents Bernard Balthazar and Theresa LaCour Balthazar, and brothers Bernard and Hal Joe Balthazar. She leaves to mourn her passing: her children, Joseph B. Mullon III, Wayne Anthony Mullon (Joy), and Cecilia Theresa Mullon; grandchildren Felicia Maria Mullon, Joseph B. Mullon IV, Danielle Theresa Mullon, Justin Metoyer Mullon (Tami), Gregory Joseph Mullon (Soraya), Anthony Metoyer Mullon; great grandchildren Anna, Cesar and Gabrielle Saenz, Hallie Hope Metoyer, Zella Metoyer Mullon and Xiomara McCune Mullon; brother Alphonse Balthazar(Anna Dell); sister Beverly Balthazar Dodd; nieces and nephews Marquita Domingue, Charlie Domingue, Lisa Balthazar Slater (Matt), Mark Balthazar, Diane Dodd (Cheri Estelle) , Fred Dodd, Monica Dodd, Ashley Balthazar and Sean Balthazar. In addition to many great nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and friends.

Norma was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all her life touched.
