Catching the fall light in all my spaces - home & studio. Busy hands, busy body, quiet mind…there’s something about sliding into the winter months that gets me so giddy - my feet move steady but I’m prioritizing rest & creativity daily. It’s my season for sure, the only thing I miss about summer is swimming & open windows.

LBK December books start 11/16 at 8pm - limited spots available due to regular clients booking with me when they come in. I work through the holidays other than the 24th-25th. It’s the busiest time of year for LBK so I just work and I’m totally cool with that, also I don’t really celebrate holidays cuz I’m devoted atheist, but I do eat & gather with my family.

Haven’t posted in a while cuz it’s my busy season - October through March is pretty much nonstop in the facial studio, but it feels so good to have a set schedule & rhythm after a wonky summer.

Here are some updates…

New Product Collection has been a lot of fun to share & apply in facials - I’m madly in love with the consistency, scents, and effectiveness of these remedies. Every client has been leaving looking gorgeous, with vibrant full of life skin. I definitely feel like I hit a a breakthrough in my product making skillzzzz, it felt stagnant there for a while there, not anymore.

December Books will open Sunday 11/16 at 8pm, a little earlier than normal but I know a lot of folks have to plan for the holidays. Mark your Calenders as December is one of my busiest months in the studio.

If you shop online there are a few hidden markdowns on old label designs and formulations - but you have to dig cuz I wove them in with the new products, also a handful of discounted goods that aren’t returning. Link in profile.

Not much to report on really, I’m just working, cleaning my house & preparing it for winter, spending time with family, walking the dogs, getting back into bread making, and can’t wait until our art/office room is ready for John & I to get weird in. I think we’re going to have a really creative winter in the house.

Solid Serums & Concentrates - More than a Balm.

Client tested & approved, I love that I get to apply & share my products during facials, it’s completely altered the way I formulate them, all good.

I’ve really been honing in on my solids, exploring & extracting in new ways for me. After many many years of mixing different fats, dealing with unwanted beady consistency, crumbling, melting at room temperature, the list goes on, I finally feel good about my combinations & their application. Whew!

Part 2 🚪 I love creating a space, like probably more than most but not more than my mama, however when my dearest friend asked me “what I dream about”, just like a home…I long for a permanent location for LBK - so we can grow old together in one spot, transition when it feels right, and maybe let the paint chip or the floors scuff from years of love.

My business is doing so well, I’m hoping I can make that dream come true by the time I’m 40 - to purchase a small building or a lot to build a vessel of my own in little ol Northport…seems possible other than it’s the most expensive place in the state to do anything. Investors needed soon please dm me 🥸

I really love offering facials, I can confidently say I’m really good at it, I also really love herbalism, 10 years of romance that just gets more beautiful & better with age, like a marriage - married to my work, my work is my baby, my work is my greatest masterpiece & I won’t be finished with creating it until I’m ⚰️ .

It’s going to be a wonderful season at LBK, I can’t wait to care for you! There’s a few subtle changes & additions but of course all good & for you.

Today is my last day in the LBK Home Studio - it has been a very peaceful & comforting space for the past 5 months but I’m so ready to move back into the Mill street location - especially for my husband & dogs, as well as relieve me from some weird ocd cleaning habits that developed having people in my house daily.

I’m so grateful for the kindness all clients showed me as they entered our home, I was a bit nervous but you all treated my home with great respect & care - thank you.

The hopes for next summer is to find a location that doesn’t require me to move - it took a small toll on my household & I just can’t do that again. So if you know of a permanent, somewhat private or quiet location for me to perform facials in Northport please send me a message or email. Thank you!

In the meantime, all clients will be notified that their facial will be on Mill Street downtown Northport. Looking forward to a beautiful & busy fall/winter season at LBK.

October books Open Sunday 9/21 at 8pm - Limited time slots available!

I’ll be returning to the LBK Mill street studio for fall & winter beginning 10/7 and I’m so excited 🚪there’s going to be a few changes (all good) regarding services, set up, retail section and more - I’ve been simplifying yet building a solid foundation for fall/winter, it feels very good to know what I want & how to do it. This is probably the best I’ve been mentally & confidently with being a small business owner - only took me 8 years but now I definitely understand that growth takes time.

I’ll be honest I’m still looking for a more suitable location for LBK in Northport - I’m so grateful for Margo & David to house me but we knew this wasn’t permanent going into it. For now I’ll continue to be renting the side room in the bakery until something pops up that works better, if you know anything please dm me.

See you this fall, appointments are first come first serve, rescheduling is tricky but can be done, cancellations day of require a $50 charge & I’ll post in my stories if there’s an opening, also I’m no longer offering gift certificates but still accepting them.

That’s it for now - while I was away from the socials 🪵 I read a whole book, swam more than 5 times, made products, our neighbors helped us cut 3 dead trees in our yard & I cleaned it up, organized & deep cleaned the basement & garage, ate a food, walked the dogs, took a huge haul of stuff housewares/clothes to evergreen consignment in Lake Leelanau, decided to become a minimalist, watered the garden, and a whole bunch of nothing important.
