NORTHVILLE YOGA CENTER TEACHER SPOTLIGHT SERIES

We are offering an opportunity for you to get to know our studio and teachers a little better. Our highly qualified teachers bring to the studio years of training and experience, and a passion to share their love of yoga.

This week’s teacher spotlight features Stephanie. Her students are encouraged to practice with awareness to their individual needs and abilities. The practice for her classes offers a flow of poses that includes balance.

Stephanie completed her CYT 200 in 2016 and is currently working toward certification in Yin Yoga. In 2022, she became a Y12SR Leader to work with people in addiction recovery. Please join Stephanie at the Northville Yoga Center for the following classes:

- Thursday, 6:00p – Hatha Yoga for All Levels
- Sunday, 9:00a – Vinyasa Intermediate
- Sunday, 10:30a – Hatha Yoga for All Levels

STEPHANIE WRITES:
I bring to my classes my love of physical movement, body awareness and the ability to meet students where they are in the practice. Whether using a chair for a student that can’t get up and down from the ground, or blocks to demonstrate an easier way to navigate stepping forward on the mat, I believe props to be an essential tool in the practice.

I came to yoga as a way to spend time with my daughter and for both of us to become more active. From that first class, I was hooked on how good it felt to flow through the movements, even though it was hard. I noticed how it not only changed my body, but my mind. I was able to sit in meditation for longer than five minutes for the first time.

After the first year I wanted to learn more and joined teacher training, becoming certified in 2016. I became a certified Y12SR Leader in 2022, to create a haven for people in addiction recovery with yoga.

This week’s teacher spotlight features Zhanna. Zhanna ensures all students feel included and belong in her class.

Please join Zhanna at the Northville Yoga Center

- Thursday, 10:00am - Hatha Yoga for all Levels

ZHANNA WRITES:
I took my very first yoga class in 2003 at my….yoga teacher training certification! Fell in love with it, as it blended my background in rhythmic gymnastics, dance and fitness and the love for spiritual development. I love to share my experiences in a way that is simple, clear and useable in everyday life. I feel it’s very spiritual to work with what is presented in the moment, while stretching toward what we want to be more about. I love to search and find the ways that make that happen. And…beyond seeing my students grow on the mat, I love seeing them connecting and becoming friends.

This week’s teacher spotlight features Hannah. Hannah is a certified yoga instructor and licensed massage therapist. She graduated from Irene's Myomassology institute in 2009 and became a registered yoga teacher in 2013. On her massage table, she offers therapeutic and Craniosacral work. On the yoga mat, Hannah offers self massage and work with beginner to intermediate students.

Please join Hanna at the Northville Yoga Center
- Monday, 9:30am - Vinyasa Yoga

HANNAH WRITES:
I teach to remind people that yoga is more than the asana/pose. You don’t have to be flexible, white, thin, or young to practice yoga. Yoga is for all walks of life. I always approach my classes in a more traditional way. I always give students more than one option to go in a pose safely. I eventually have them focus on the breath in addition with movement to experience the health benefits of the practice.

I found yoga when I was 18 years old. I remember exactly how I felt after my very first yoga class. I also wasn’t physically flexible. However, I remember feeling grounded and connected for the first time, especially since I struggled with anxiety and depression.

I completed my yoga teacher training in 2013 and have been teaching for 6 years. Between being a massage therapist and yoga instructor, I found how much it has helped so many people throughout the years. I am beyond grateful to be apart of the community and being able to serve at the Northville Yoga Center.

We are offering an opportunity for you to get to know our studio and teachers a little better. Our highly qualified teachers bring to the studio years of training and experience, and a passion to share their love of yoga.

This week’s teacher spotlight features Kevin. You will immediately feel at ease in Kevin’s class, as he brings warmth, kindness and acceptance to the studio. Kevin’s gentle teaching style offers students a wonderful balance of poses for strength and flexibility. Kevin completed his RYT training in 2009 and has been teaching at Northville Yoga Center since then.

Please join Kevin for one of the following classes that he teaches through the week
- Tuesday, 6:00pm - Hatha Yoga for all Levels
- Saturday, 9:00am - Vinyasa Yoga
- Saturday, 10:30am - Hatha Yoga for all Levels

KEVIN WRITES:
I approach my teaching simply to guide the class safely through sequences of tried and true yoga poses that have been around for a very long time. In order to allow the experience to happen, I try not to get in the way, especially for those who are new to yoga. I model my instruction directly from my training and my own research, but so much of what I bring to class comes from my personal practice also. The students who practice with me will, nine times out ten, be flowing through poses that I'm finding beneficial in my own practice at the time.

I've been practicing yoga since 2001. At first I enjoyed the physical benefits I was experiencing through yoga, but very quickly became aware that the benefits of yoga extended far beyond the physical experience. In 2008 I enrolled in a yoga teacher training program because I was drawn to explore a deeper experience in my own practice and to deepen my understanding of the ancient yoga traditions. I absolutely love sharing my enthusiasm for yoga with others, and have an immense sense of gratitude to have the opportunity to do so with yoga instruction.

This week’s teacher spotlight features Marianne. Marianne brings a beautiful energy to her classes and has a wonderfully well rounded practice. She teaches all levels of yoga with a kind and welcoming demeanor. She has been teaching at Northville Yoga Center since 2014 immediately following her Yoga Teacher Training and Certification.

Please join Marianne for one of the following classes that she teaches through the week
- Monday, 6:00pm - 7:00pm - Hatha Yoga for all Levels
- Wednesday, 9:00am - 10:00am - Hatha Yoga for all Levels
- Friday, 9:00am - 10:00am - Hatha Yoga for all Levels

MARIANNE WRITES:
I took my first yoga class hoping it would help with tight hamstrings from distance running. After my first class, I was surprised at how good I felt in so many ways. That was in 2009, and from then on I continued to practice on a regular basis. By the end of 2012, I enrolled in a yoga teacher training certification class. The purpose was to learn more about the ancient traditions and to improve my own practice. In 2013, I received my teaching certificate and have been an instructor for close to nine years.

My teaching philosophy is that I practice what I teach. Mostly traditional poses that flow together allowing deep breathing. I believe that yoga can benefit any student at any level who is just willing to try.

Northville Yoga Center is excited to announce a soft re-opening of the studio coming soon. We are polishing our protocol, mapping out the studio space, and expect we’ll be able to support up to 8 participants in each class. Class participants will be required to wear face coverings at all times. Studio props are in storage, but students are welcome to bring their own props as they see fit.

Class offerings will be limited until we have a better feel for demand. Therefore, our initial plans include a schedule that will be scaled back. Moving forward, we’ll do everything we can to adjust the schedule according to demand and availability.

As we have experienced in the past, things can change quickly. We encourage you to view the schedule that is posted on the Northville Yoga Center website (northvilleyogacenter.com), or check the schedule found on the Northville Yoga Center FaceBook page to view current offerings. We will keep this schedule updated as things change.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to secure your spot in class, as class size will be limited. Register online directly from the schedule page or by using the MindBody app. Walk-ins will be handled on a first-come basis according to remaining availability. We anticipate honoring existing client packages, and will offer an option for walk-in payments of $15 per class.
