I haven’t been feeling great and I’ve been wishing for cut flowers to enjoy while I’m recovering from an asthma flare.

They have felt too indulgent to ask for, after all soup is so easily understood as an answer to “what do you need?” And I do love soup!! 🍲

So I decided to really admire everyone’s yards, gardens, and bushes while I ventured out to my Doc and then the pharmacy for prescriptions.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the different colors and varieties on my journey!

Then I arrived home to find that a neighbor had trimmed her gorgeous, blooming hydrangea and left the extra stems by the street to share. When I stopped to ask, she encouraged me to take as many as I could!

What an amazing answer to an internal request that I only shared with All That Is, while simultaneously appreciating what was already available to me.

This is what feeling in alignment without resistance results in, I believe!!

Amazing! I’m so grateful!! Thank you neighbor, and Universe! I feel supported and loved. 🥰

What is within your control?

Right now, with everything so crazy in the world, it's important to keep asking "what can I actually do?"

And then DO IT!

I think it's easy to feel overwhelmed with all of the things that are NOT within my control and that sort of paralyzes me.

But if I focus on what I CAN do, then I can begin to take forward steps that help me feel like I'm making progress again.

So just for today, what is within your control to do?

Focus on noticing your feelings

When it comes to personal control, your feelings are your guide.

Since you can't control anyone else's feelings or behavior, you get to really notice what YOUR feelings are and then address why you're having them

Noticing is the first step to changing (or controlling) any feelings you don't enjoy.

Once you notice what the trigger is, ask where it came from and then what is the feeling underneath it.

What is an emotion you're not fond of that you experience regularly?

Does the trigger come from inside you or outside of you?

If it is in response to someone else doing or saying something, what is your internal dialogue about it?

Begin there, look at your feelings, and then look UNDER the superficial feelings.

Now you can talk to yourself kindly and see what is real versus the story you made up about it.

This will soften your reaction so you can give yourself grace and the feelings can gently subside.

Only having to control yourself is Freeing

When you realize that not only can't you control anyone else, but you don't have to even try, it's very liberating!

It's not your job to manage other people's emotions or reactions

The only emotions or reactions you can control are yours.

As a recovering people pleaser I have spent decades thinking how other people felt about my needs or wants was more important than my needs or wants.

And I spent WAY too much time trying to predict or anticipate how they might feel or react and ultimately deciding it wasn't worth the risk of trusting them.

Because what if my needs or wants upset, bother, or inconvenience them?

I am now clear that it's an act of vulnerability and trust to share my needs and wants and leave the reactions of others up to them 😳😬

It's a new way of being!

The amazing benefits are closer connections, feeling more deeply loved and seen, and most of all supported!

Monday Mantra:
I only control myself

In this time of outward upheaval, I am frequently reminding myself that the only thing I can control is myself

I can choose to be at the highest possible vibration and output positive energy

Or I can succumb to the fear mongering, hatred, divisiveness, and anger.

Of course there is always a middle road as well as every variant on the spectrum.

I choose to be a stand for peace, inclusiveness, love, light, and compassion.

I will demonstrate that and advocate for that within the reaches of my influence at every opportunity.

I will remind friends that no matter what is happening in the world, it is still possible to be a light.

The only thing I can control is myself, what I eat, drink, read, listen to, talk about.

I can't and don't want to control anyone else, so I'll stay focused on being the best me I can be.

This week will you join me in this mantra of reminding yourself that you control you and no one else?

Join me in centering on this so that the outside noise gets a bit softer and less intrusive.

Just for today, or maybe this week, be focused on what matters to you, in your circle of influence and be the best flipping you that you can be! (one tiny act of rebellion since the mass media wants us helpless and in hysterics, divided and angry at everyone!)
