We are excited to welcome Dr. Gabrielle Seifert to our practice next month! Dr. Seifert grew up in Jackson Township just outside of Massillon. She attended the University of Akron where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences and a Masters degree in Polymer Science. After that she attended Case Western Reserve University Dental School where she graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree and received the Dean’s Award in recognition of academic and clinical excellence.

After graduating from Case Western, she was accepted into the 1-year Dental Residency program at Summa Health System in Akron. Summa’s Residency program is excellent and provides in-depth clinical experiences in oral surgery, endodontics, periodontal treatment, prosthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Seifert is a terrific addition to the practice will allow us to expand the services we can offer our patients. For example, we will be bringing more endodontics, oral surgery and prosthodontics into the practice. Of course, for some patients it will still be best to refer them to specialists, but we will evaluate each case and decide what is best for the patient.

We are also happy to announce we will be opening the office for appointments on Friday mornings starting April 1st. Over the years the practice has grown so much that sometimes it is difficult to find available appointments for patients as quickly as we’d like. Adding Dr. Seifert will enable us to have more appointment times available throughout the week.

You will find that Dr. Seifert enjoys establishing relationships with her patients, learning about their lives, meeting their families, and watching their kids grow up. Her philosophy is always to do what’s best for the patient. The focus of this practice has always been on the patient which makes her a great fit here!

Dr. Seifert lives in Jackson Township and in her spare time enjoys being outside and playing disc golf with her husband. Please join us in welcoming her to the practice.

I just wanted to take a moment to let our patients know we are open again and here to help you maintain your oral health. It’s been a strange and difficult period of time, but I hope and believe better days are ahead for us all.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these recommended changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office. We will take your temperature with a non-contact thermometer when you arrive.
• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
• These scheduling changes in addition to the tremendous backlog of work caused by the shutdown might make it difficult to accommodate everyone as quickly as we all would like. We apologize in advance and ask for your patience and understanding.

As always, our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued because of Covid-19.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at (330) 745-0502.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,
Dr. Suckling and Staff

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PATIENTS
According to the CDC, the immediate health risk from the coronavirus is currently considered low for most of the American public. Fortunately, our standard sterilization and disinfection protocols are designed to be effective at preventing the coronavirus, flu, and other communicable diseases. Additionally, we have increased the frequency of disinfecting common areas such as our waiting room. The health of our patients and team members remains our highest priority. For more information on the coronavirus, visit the CDC website.

If you currently feel sick, please reschedule your dental appointment and call your physician. This is especially true if you have a fever, cough, sneezing, or shortness of breath. The same thing applies if you have had any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours.

Please also reschedule your appointment if, in the past two weeks, you have either been in close contact with someone who is infected with COVID-19, or have returned to the United States from an area affected by the coronavirus disease. Right now this list includes China, Iran, Italy, Japan, and South Korea. However, the list of countries continues to change, so it’s a good idea to check this Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for updates on the affected countries.

Frequently asked questions for patients

What is coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some causing respiratory illness in people and others circulating among animals. Previous coronavirus outbreaks have included Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). COVID-19 is the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2.
Although we have a lot to learn about this virus, it appears to spread like other respiratory viruses — by people with the infection coughing and sneezing. These droplets are inhaled by other people or moved to the eyes, nose or mouth by contaminated hands.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Symptoms of COVID-19 are flu-like and include fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. Some people, usually those with other medical complications, may develop more severe symptoms, including pneumonia. If you do feel ill, don’t panic. Most people who get the novel coronavirus disease have only minor symptoms and do not need medical care. However, you should contact your doctor to inform them of your symptoms and get advice.

What should I do to keep myself and those close to me safe?
The most important steps to take are the same as for every cold and flu season: Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and hot water. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you cannot wash. Stay home if you are feeling ill. If you experience symptoms, call your doctor’s office. They will help you determine if you need to be seen and provide you with instructions for seeking medical care.

New 5 Star Review:

"Dr. Suckling is an amazing person and even a better dentist. My whole family goes to her and every time we go, we are treated exceptional by her professional staff. Every staff member shows they really care about you. The only reason I wouldn't rate her with six stars is because five is the limit!"
