We've had so much to celebrate lately! Our ASPIRE middle school students enjoyed a fun and festive winter party filled with games, trivia, cookie decorating, and plenty of laughs. It was a great way for our students to celebrate the season together and end the year on a high note.

A big thank you to Tauck for sponsoring the event and to the Tauck employees who volunteered. Their energy and support helped make the afternoon unforgettable for our students.

Diana knows all too well what it’s like to grow up in an unsafe home. She was removed from her mother’s custody due to neglect and was placed in therapeutic foster care through FCA. Years later, when she realized she needed some support to raise her own children, she knew just where to turn again – FCA. Our case worker provided her emotional support, went to prenatal appointments with her, and enrolled her in parenting education classes to learn about child development and healthy discipline. Our Foster Care families celebrated the season with a cozy holiday pajama party! From crafts and gifts to a fully stocked hot chocolate bar, the room was filled with laughter, connection, and love.

A heartfelt thank you to Ox Ridge Elementary and the Goldberg Family for sponsoring this celebration and helping us make the night special for every child.

We are grateful to our incredible foster parents and staff whose care brings comfort and joy to the children we serve, not just today but all season long.

Our ASPIRE high school students and their families gathered this week for a festive winter celebration filled with cookie decorating, bingo, and time together as a community. It was a great way to enjoy the season with the people who make ASPIRE such a meaningful place to learn and grow.

We are grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for sponsoring the event and helping us create a joyful night for our students.

There are so many families in our community who really need a helping hand this holiday season. Some of the families included in the most recent Giving Fund, a partnership between FCA and the Hour Newsroom, include a formerly homeless 11 year old, a woman who escaped domestic violence but now relies on the food pantry to feed her two kids, a senior who needs a bus pass and more.

When Vivian and her children were in danger from domestic violence, FCA was there to help her begin a new, safer life. We immediately supported her in leaving her home, reporting her abuse to police, and securing housing at a domestic violence shelter. But we didn’t stop there. We helped her find a new preschool, enroll in public assistance, and access support for her mental health. Now, I’m happy to report that Vivian and her children are about to move into their own apartment. We are so proud of Luis for all he has accomplished at ASPIRE and Brien McMahon High School! Way to go!

Congratulations to BMHS Senior Luis Acosta Chinchilla who has been admitted to Wesleyan University with a full four-year QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. Luis is part of our IB Career Path program with a focus in Marine Science. He is considering a career in Science education.
