Ginger Katz authored the book Sunny’s Story, a drug prevention book,#1 on google search , and is a compelling message of empowering youth to be drug free. Sunny’s Story is narrated through the eyes, ears and mind of Sunny, the family beagle, who tells the ups and downs of life with his young master Ian, beginning with their meeting at an animal shelter, and ending with a futile effort to ward off disaster. He tells a heart warming, but tragic story that makes readers, young and old, think twice about choices being made every day. Sunny’s Story is told from the perspection of the family beagle who tells Ms. Katz son Ian’s Story.
The book is narrated by Sunny. He tried to wake up Ian’s mom up in the middle of the night to tell her Ian was in trouble. Ginger awoke at 6 am for her am run and found Ian had overdosed. Years later, she thought if Sunny could talk, he would have a lot to say. Hense, Sunny’s Story was written. Its a stand alone book read at many dinner table accross the country and is part of the Courage to Speak Drug Prevention Curriculum grades 4 though 12. The Courage to Speak Foundation has formed alliances and collaborates with state and national state and organizations such as the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, the US Dept of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), and other local and state groups.
