IMPOSTER! i heard
chills ran down my spine
sweat formed in my palm
i moved through the fog
trying my best to stay calm
i knew it
they caught me
they figured me out
i knew no one would believe me amidst all
of this doubt!
a confident coward
an eloquent mouse
i’m an educated,adult teenager
who let me out of the house!?
i know that i’m good…
this is what i’m meant be
so why with each step forward,
inferiority consumes me?
as i keep walking i hear the voice with much more to say
feeding my fears in every which way
holding me hostage
convincing me to quit
i’m not meant for this
it’s a sign
this is it.
to my shock i see another outline appear amidst the enchanted trees
my hero in her elegance!
floating with ease
well spoken
destined
the definition of power and grace
how does she do it?
she knows her place
she has all that i want
a life accomplished, aligned
hungry for answers I’m desperate to find
tell me the secret please!
i grab her hand pleading to know
when will i feel worthy to grow!
i’m exhausted! i tell her
i’m running so fast, and my feet, they don’t move!
how do i become more than i am?
release my need to prove!?
just before she spoke, i heard it again,
IMPOSTER! thundering out of the blue
she jumped, and i gasped as she said,
“you hear it too?”
