PSA- CHECK YOUR KIDS TEETH!

I don’t care if they’re 6 or 16, look at what is going on at the gumline in your kids mouth. Make them pull their lip back to see. That determines how well they are brushing.

See the cheesy white stuff at the gumline? That is plaque. Leaving too much plaque like this on the teeth for too long causes DECALCIFICATION or DEMINERALIZATION. This is the bright chalky white or yellow spots. Cavities turn chalky white until they literally chip out into a BROWN HOLE/cavity.

See the RED, SWOLLEN, ROLLED gums? That is GINGIVITIS, which is INFECTION of the gums from too much bacteria, too long there.

If you’re a mama paying for braces you have to be aware. I just recently saw a teenager that needs to get their braces off prematurely to be able to fill 6 to 12 cavities IN THE FRONT because of poor oral hygiene with ortho.

Yes, the ortho assistants should check this and warn you, as well as me the dental hygienist. LISTEN TO THEM. WE CARE.

How to help ensure good oral health:

-get an electric toothbrush
(Phillips Sonicare or Oral-B)

-floss/floss picks/ Waterpik

-FLUORIDE mouthwash

-go to your dental cleaning every 6 months

THAT IS IT! And brush your GUMS, gently!!!
