Join us on Friday, May 29th at a new location this year - the Ronald St. John Community Center in Harrison - for a day of honest conversation, learning, and a mix of voices from across our community. Happy Earth Day! 🌎💚 It feels especially fitting to share these photos today. We had an amazing turnout for our Community Clean Up and Pizza Party on Saturday, with participants, loved ones, and caring neighbors all showing up to help remove a full truckload of trash from the Rail Trail and Riverside Trail in Norway. We’re proud of what got done, but even more than that, we’re grateful for all the people who made it happen!

🤔 We’ve been thinking about something and need your honest input!

When communities host events about substance use disorder stigma, it often ends up being the same caring, supportive people who come. We’re so grateful for allies that keep showing up, but it also raises a question:

How might we connect with those who are not already engaged in this conversation? What do you think would help? What could make events feel more relevant, welcoming, or worth attending?

We’d love to hear any ideas!

But it does include real updates, honest conversation, and a room full of people who care. Join us tonight, 6-7:30pm, at The HILLS or Zoom!

🖤🕯️Today is Black Balloon Day. A day to remember and honor the lives lost to overdose. People who were loved, who were part of families and friendships and communities. People who should still be here.

In Maine this year, 390 people were lost to overdose. It’s the lowest number we’ve seen in three years after the sharp increase during the pandemic. It shows that prevention efforts, harm reduction, and recovery support are making a difference. But it also needs to be said clearly: 390 is still far too many. Even one death is a tragedy.

Overdose touches more people than most realize. You may not have experienced it personally, but almost everyone knows someone who knows someone who has lost someone. The ripple effect is everywhere.

For anyone still struggling with substance use, we want you to hear this today: your life matters. You are not beyond help, and you are not beyond hope. If you or someone you care about could use support, The HILLS Recovery Center is here. We offer free Narcan, free training for individuals and groups, and a community space for people navigating recovery, grief, and everything in between.

But remember, you don’t have to work in this field to be part of the solution! Everyone can help prevent overdose through compassion, awareness, and being prepared with Narcan just in case.
