Several of our HKAL communities already feature a Veterans Wall, and over the past few months, we’ve been working to bring this meaningful tribute to all HKAL communities. These walls honor veterans as a whole, as well as our residents who have served our country. The displays look wonderful and, on this Veterans Day, serve as a proud reminder of the courage, dedication, and service of our veterans. Thank you!

The countdown is on for the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Turkey & Pie Drive at Catholic Charities Boston – Brockton!

This year, we’re aiming to serve 1,000 families across Massachusetts — and your support can make it happen.

We’re still calling for donors and volunteers to help provide turkeys, pies, apple cider, eggnog, and holiday staples like stuffing, cornbread, gravy, and cranberry sauce.

Together, let’s make this Thanksgiving a season of giving, gratitude, and community. ❤️

She brings enthusiasm, warmth, and motivating energy to every interaction — always driven by a sense of urgency, initiative, and a competitive spirit to deliver impactful results through collaboration and teamwork.

Suzana’s passion for serving older adults began early in life, inspired by the years her grandmother lived with her family. That deeply personal connection continues to guide her mission: helping seniors and their families discover communities rooted in care, compassion, and dignity.

Outside of her professional life, Suzana enjoys walking and running, exploring new travel destinations, and nurturing her garden. Her greatest joy, however, is spending time with her beloved granddaughter.

We are pleased to welcome Marc Cohen to the regional team supporting our HKAL communities. Marc brings with him a deep understanding of the privilege and responsibility that comes with being welcomed into our residents’ homes each day.

Marc has nearly 20 years of experience as an Executive Director in senior living communities ranging in size from 62 to 281 apartments with for-profit, not for profit, nationwide, regional, and family-owned organizations. He also serves as a Boot Camp Trainer for the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA). Prior to entering the senior living field, Marc held a range of management positions in area hospitals and other health care provider organizations for more than two decades.

Marc received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Management and Planning from Boston University. He also earned a Ph.D. in Health Planning, Policy, and Administration from the Heller School at Brandeis University.

Outside of work, Marc enjoys road cycling and has participated in fundraising rides sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, Best Buddies, and the American Diabetes Association, among others.

With more than 40 years of experience serving people across diverse industries, Cheryl has built a career grounded in leadership, collaboration, and compassion. From working alongside civil engineers, architects, State Police, and environmental consultants to supporting individuals with cognitive memory loss and, most recently, residents in independent and assisted living communities, every role has been both meaningful and rewarding.
Cheryl’s personal journey caring for her father through his battle with dementia gave her firsthand insight into the struggles and successes. It also strengthened her commitment to improving the lives of those in similar situations.
At the heart of Cheryl’s leadership philosophy is a customer-first culture, driven by hiring and developing highly skilled, engaged employees. Cheryl leads by example, values integrity, and believes in treating people the way she wishes to be treated, with kindness, honesty, and dignity.

We’re excited to welcome Mark Cyr to the team as our new Regional Sales Specialist.

With over 30 years of experience spanning the medical device, supply distribution, and patient care industries, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role. He built a strong foundation in acute care sales before transitioning into national healthcare distribution. As National Account Director at McKesson Medical Surgical, he played a pivotal role in advancing strategic initiatives across Home Care, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), Home Medical Equipment (HME), and Long-Term Care sectors—ensuring reliable access to critical products and services.

Mark later expanded his impact by contributing to direct patient care through his work with Caretenders Home Care, blending clinical insight with operational expertise to improve patient outcomes across settings.

We are thrilled to announce that Donna Pavlin has transitioned into the role of Executive Director at Sunapee Cove in New Hampshire.

Joining her is Nelly Simon, LPN, who has taken on the role of Resident Care Director.

Both Donna and Nelly were valued members of the HallKeen team at Brigham House, and we are delighted to have them continue their journey with us in their new roles at Sunapee Cove.

HallKeen Assisted Living Communities is excited to announce the promotion of Jaime Girard Rochette to Regional Director of Operations!

Jaime joined HallKeen Assisted Living Communities in June of 2023 as the Executive Director (ED) at Brigham House in Watertown, MA, bringing with her over 15 years of experience in senior living. At the end of the year, she transitioned to the ED position at River Mills, where she has successfully led her team in building a strong, cohesive culture focused on establishing the community as the premier provider of assisted living and memory care in a unique and evolving market. In recognition of these efforts, River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls was named “2025 Community of the Year” at HallKeen’s Summer Outing.

Jaime will be overseeing River Mills as well as 4 other communities in her regional portfolio.

Yesterday, at HallKeen Management's Summer Outing, we celebrated HallKeen Assisted Living Communities’ “2025 Community of the Year”, River Mills Assisted Living!

When the doors to River Mills opened to its first resident, less than 90 days later the world would be shattered by a pandemic that lasted the better part of 3 years.

Throughout the pandemic, River Mill's team of individuals endured and persisted, keeping Residents safe and growing the Community every which way possible. For the past two years in particular, the Leadership Team developed a seamless bond together and worked daily to compassionately execute with precision and routine in a unique market with the goal of emerging as the premier assisted living and memory care provider.
