🧠Frontal Brain Activity Linked to Compulsive Behavior in OCDđź§
New research from the Perelman School of Medicine has identified a specific pattern of activity in a frontal brain region linked to compulsive behaviors in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
This discovery helps explain why people with OCD experience persistent urges like excessive cleaning, checking, hair-pulling, or skin-picking and why these behaviors can feel so difficult to control.
The study also suggests that targeted brain-based treatments may help reduce symptoms in individuals with severe, treatment-resistant OCD by disrupting abnormal activity patterns.
At Suburban Psychiatric Specialists, we stay informed on the latest neuroscience research to better understand the biological roots of conditions like OCD. While many individuals respond well to therapy and medication, we also work closely with patients who need more specialized care, providing evidence-based treatment plans tailored to their needs.
