A heartfelt evening at our center last weekend — where magazines, colors, and creative freedom turned into mirrors of our values, visions, and stories.

Attitude isn’t just about being “positive.”

It’s about how I choose to meet life.

It’s courage when the path ahead isn’t clear. The quiet confidence that says, “I will take the next step anyway.”
It’s lightness when life feels heavy - the ability to breathe, to laugh, to remember that no storm lasts forever.

It’s humility when ego wants control - the strength to pause and say, “Let me listen instead of insist.”

And it’s gratitude when the outcome isn’t mine to decide - a gentle trust in the wisdom of life, knowing that what unfolds is often what my soul needs, not just what I want.
Attitude is the energy behind every thought, every action, every word.

It colors the way I see, and therefore, the way I experience.
When I raise my attitude - with faith, lightness, humility, and gratitude - my inner world rises too.

And from that height, what once seemed like a mountain feels like a stepping stone.

Have a weekend that rises as high as your attitude🌹!

“She said this, so I said that! He did that, that’s why I had to do this!” Sound familiar?

Reaction has become our default mode of living. Yet later, when we reflect on what happened, we often regret our words or actions. Why does this keep happening? Perhaps because society has taught us that winning equals strength.

If we’re not winning, we’re seen as weak. Being witty, quick to respond, even deliberately hurting someone or “teaching them a lesson” - all these are celebrated as signs of confidence. We’re praised for “standing up for ourselves.”

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 - 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐨𝐟?

Why must we win every argument or prove our point to be considered strong? What kind of strength destroys peace and love?

It seems we’ve become a society obsessed with winning every battle. Let me win this argument, even if it costs my friendship. Let me prove I’m right even if it strains my relationship.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐟, 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 - 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬?

Today, as I reflect, I realize that though I may “win” these battles, I never feel happy inside. For the soul - the being of love and peace - cannot be happy when it takes away another’s happiness.

In the long run, if I lose the most valuable asset of all - others’ cooperation and good wishes - what have I really gained?

So, what if today I choose differently? What if I say sorry to someone I’ve hurt? What if I stay silent when someone provokes me?

Maybe that’s how we begin to truly win -
not the small battles of ego, but the great war of self-mastery.
Have a gentle weekend - where peace feels stronger than pride.

Diwali reminds us that light will always triumph over darkness — not just in the world around us, but within us.

The real Diwali is an inner celebration — when the soul awakens to its truth and the inner flame begins to shine once again. The diya (lamp) we light is more than a ritual; it is a sacred symbol.

The diya represents the soul — a tiny point of light, pure and powerful. Its flame signifies mastery — mastery over the mind and the patterns that have dimmed our light. The ghee that sustains the flame represents divine knowledge — wisdom of time, truth, and eternity.

Lighting the physical diya is a reminder to also light the inner one — to let the flame of awareness dispel the darkness of ignorance, ego, and negativity. This light guides us along a virtuous path — of pure thoughts, sweet words, and kind actions that bring joy to ourselves and others.

Even the rituals of Diwali carry deep meaning. Cleaning our homes is a reflection of cleansing the mind — releasing the old, forgiving the past, and making space for new beginnings. Lighting the diya becomes an act of settling karmic accounts — offering forgiveness and filling relationships with love and respect.

In Hindi, diya means “to give.” When we awaken, we begin to give — to give love, peace, respect and happiness freely. We give away our weaknesses to the Divine and receive light in return. And diya means “to light” or “to make cheerful” — for when the soul is lit from within, it becomes a source of cheer for the whole world.

Through silence and stillness, this inner flame ignites — bringing clarity, strength, and the power to transform not only the self, but the world.

This is the true Diwali — the awakening of the light within.
Shine as that light. Be the giver. Be the flame. Happy Diwali!

Experience the Light

Retreat Center

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization created Anubhuti Retreat Center to be a place where people of all backgrounds can explore their spirituality. Anubhuti is staffed by volunteers who have benefited from the insights and practices offered by the Brahma Kumaris and give their time freely and happily. All our retreats, workshops, and courses are run by experienced facilitators who have years of experience as Raja Yoga practitioners and teachers. Many also hold various professional qualifications and are keenly aware of the challenges of bringing spirituality into everyday life.

The Retreat Center sits on top of a hill near the San Francisco Bay, surrounded by 1,600 acres of protected open space, water and a wildlife preserve with a full 360° degree view. Accommodation at the retreat center is comprised of 2-3 person shared bedrooms with private bath set among landscaped gardens with spectacular views of the Bay, Pacheco Pond, Novato creek and the rolling hills of Marin County.
