Her expertise includes the treatment of irregular corneas using specialty scleral and gas permeable lenses. Dr. Chen also completed clinical externships at VA hospitals in San Francisco, Reno, and Miami, where she practiced full scope optometry and trained in the management of common eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. with honors in molecular and cell biology from Stanford University. Dr. Chen specializes in myopia control, particularly in orthokeratology. She is certified and trained in a number of different brands of overnight ortho-k lenses. She also utilizes vision therapy to help further develop and strengthen eye muscles in order to improve eye teaming, visual processing and efficiency. She is passionate about diagnosis and treatment of dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and other common eye conditions through the use of latest equipment and technology. She is a currently a member of the American Academy of Optometry, California Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the Santa Clara County Optometric Association where she serves on the social committee. Dr. Chen is an active volunteer, supporting initiatives such as Berkeley Suitcase Clinic, VOSH, and Bay Area vision screenings. During her free time, she enjoys cardio-kickboxing, dining, and exploring the world, spending time with Mondu the Maltipoo.
