Urgent care case: acupuncture for post-cataract surgery
A patient was at the age of 84, male, had his cataract surgery for his second eye which he had trauma injury in his early 60s. He couldn’t see things 3 feet away with this eye. His first eye’s surgery was easy and smooth. However, right after 2nd eye’s surgery, he felt there was a foreign object in the eye and the white part of eye was completely red blood shot. His doctor told him everything was normal and he couldn’t do anything to help him anymore. He was very upset and feeling fearful and worried that he was going to have this uncomfortable feeling forever. He was brought to me right after coming back home.
I assured him that he will be fine after acupuncture treatment and drink herbal tea.
I did acupuncture around his eyes and used some acupuncture points on his body to regulate Qi and blood flow.
I gave him some anti-viral and anti inflammatory herbal tea. He felt immediately different after treatment. Feeling much better next day, within two weeks, his 2nd eye became normal and his vision is significantly improved.
Comment: due to his past injury, when the original lence was torn off, it broke many minute vessels in his eye, he could get infection (wind)right at the moment. That was why he felt the discomfort.
Acupuncture can help local and systemic energy and blood flow back to normal. Thus way it can speed up the healing.
