Even as clinicians, we are not immune to sudden health scares.

A severe allergic reaction recently forced me to slow down, listen to my body, and focus on healing — something we constantly advise our patients to do. Sometimes stepping back is not weakness… it is preparation to return stronger and serve our community better.

Health is never to be taken for granted.

Have you ever experienced a moment that forced you to pause and reset your priorities? I would truly value hearing your story ❤️

Tried a new specialty mushroom soup… just 2 teaspoons later → numbness, tingling & an unexpected ER visit 😳
Thankfully all is well 🙏
Reminder as a PT:
⚠️ Never ignore sudden body reactions after new foods. Early care matters.
Grateful to the amazing ER team at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital ❤️ RN Jessica , Dr.Wahl and Dr.Monterosso

Disclaimer: This is not meant to offend any mushroom brand or variety. Reactions are individual. These may be someone else’s favorites. I am only sharing my personal experience.

After 40, warming up your upper body becomes even more important. It improves mobility, activates muscles, and helps reduce the risk of injury before exercise.

Hip mobility matters, especially after 40+.
Our hips are designed to move in many directions. When we stop moving them fully, stiffness and discomfort can slowly creep in.
✔ Forward
✔ Backward
✔ Side to side
✔ Gentle circles
Move your hips in all directions to help keep them healthy and mobile.

Shoulder pain after 40 is more common than we think. Poor posture, rotator cuff weakness, and reduced mobility are often the main reasons.
The good news? With the right warm-up and strengthening, most shoulder pain can be improved safely.
As a physical therapist with 25+ years of experience — and someone who understands injury and recovery personally — I believe prevention is always better than pain.
Move it gently. Strengthen it wisely. 💛

Ankle circles are a simple, dynamic warmup involving slow rotation of the foot at the ankle joint in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. They are performed by lifting one foot off the ground and rotating the foot to increase joint lubrication, range of motion, and blood flow.
