To the Residents of Nunda and Portage, We Need YOU! 🚨

This image is not a drill. It represents a stark reality facing our community in the near future. We are incredibly fortunate to have a local, all-volunteer ambulance service – a service built on the dedication and selflessness of your neighbors. But as you can see, we're at a critical juncture.

The banner speaks volumes: "OUT OF SERVICE. UNABLE TO RESPOND. NO VOLUNTEERS."

This isn't just Nunda's struggle; many of our neighboring towns are currently facing the same dilemma, and tragically, some have already ceased operations. This places an immense and dangerous additional stress on an already-strained county EMS system.

Our current volunteers, heroes who have given countless hours and years to our community, are approaching retirement. We have members who have served for decades, and their upcoming departure leaves a void that we must fill. We desperately need younger members to join us to survive and continue providing vital emergency services. We especially need EMTs, as well as drivers, and crew members.

The alternative is unthinkable: closing our doors, just as some other towns have had to do.

Think about it: In an emergency, do you want to wait the extra, precious minutes required for an ambulance to respond from Dansville, Mount Morris, Geneseo, or even further away? Every second counts when it's your loved one, your friend, or you, yourself is in need.

We all have a social responsibility to help our neighbors. This is your chance to make a real, tangible difference right here in your hometown. No prior experience is necessary; we provide all the training you need. What you need is a willingness to learn, a desire to serve, and a commitment to your community.

Please, don't let this be our future. Step up and become a part of something truly essential. Your community is calling.

Contact us today to learn more about becoming a Nunda Ambulance volunteer! Let's keep our service running and our community safe. If you have questions or would like more information, please message us.

Have you ever heard of Hyper-Reach?

“Hyper-Reach” allows the Emergency Communications Center to quickly send a recorded message to telephones in specific areas and alert residents to any emergency situations that may require immediate action. The system is designed to deliver more than 5,000 calls per hour and has been successfully used on a number of occasions for incidents such as hazardous chemical releases, missing persons, and barricaded persons. The “Hyper-Reach” message delivers critical information to residents and provides guidance on what precautions need to be taken by residents during and after the incident.

All hard-wired telephones in Livingston County are automatically listed to receive these alerts; however, there is no central registry of mobile telephones. Individuals will need to register their mobile devices with Hyper-reach in order to receive the alerts.

Please follow the link below to sign up for Hyper-Reach.

During the recent Americana Days, the community held a recognition luncheon for the area's Veterans and First Responders. We had the privilege of working with Senator Pam Helming, who presented Martha with the NYS Senate Commendation award, honoring her for, among other things, her 43+ years of service and for responding to over 5,000 EMS calls.

The New York State Senate Commendation Award is one of the most prestigious awards a State Senator can bestow on a citizen, and we are thankful that Martha has been recognized for her service as a Teacher, First Responder, and Community Leader.

We, as a community, are so very fortunate to have the dedicated volunteers that we do.

On Sunday, July 13, Senator Pam Helming attended the Nunda First Responders and Veterans Luncheon, where she had the honor of presenting longtime EMT and Town Board Member Martha Blair with a New York State Senate Commendation Award in recognition of her extraordinary service to the community. For mo...
