Mountainside Medical Center presented Nutley EMS with a "Great Save" certificate.

A 63-year-old male was brought in by Nutley EMS to Mountainside Medical Center where the patient had developed sudden drooling, facial droop, upper and lower extremity weakness and difficulty speaking. The patient was last seen normal at 11 p.m. by their spouse who had a great suspicion this was a stroke, so they dialed 9-1-1 for EMS support.

The patient arrived at the emergency department, accompanied by basic life support and advanced life support, where they were evaluated immediately by the emergency department doctor and a "Code Stroke" was activated.

Imaging demonstrated complete blockage of the cerebral artery. Medication was administered and the patient was transported to the Neurointerventional Lab where Dr. Ahsan Sattar performed an acute Mechanical Thrombectomy with successful recanalization of the artery after one pass with a stent retriever. Immediately following the procedure, the patient was able to move all four extremities, followed all commands and was then admitted to the ICU.

A great save from Nutley EMS!

"Last week, the NVERS Board voted to share all the documents that Commissioner Petracco has publicly demanded. This afternoon, NVERS delivered these redacted files, which included bank statements, payroll records, business meeting records and notes and a roster of employee/volunteer names to Commissioner Petracco, through the Nutley Township attorney.

We have taken this action as a good faith effort to demonstrate that we have nothing to hide and with the understanding that Commissioner Petracco will, in turn, table his resolution to dissolve NVERS. The resolution is currently scheduled to be heard on second reading at Tuesday’s Township Commissioner’s Meeting.

Further, as part of this ongoing negotiations, NVERS has asked for a sit-down meeting with Commissioner Petracco and other Township leaders in order to develop a productive path for both parties to move forward.

We hope and expect that our decision to comply with the Commissioner’s demands will be the first, important step to an eventual resolution of this ongoing situation. NVERS looks forward to continuing to serve the greater Nutley community for at least another 67 years.

Below you will find the link with details for tomorrow's Board of Commissioners meeting.

In solidarity,

NVERS Leadership"
