Montefiore Nyack Foundation

Montefiore Nyack Foundation Guided by our incredible Board of Directors, Montefiore Nyack Foundation is the fundraising arm of Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

Montefiore Nyack Foundation’s mission is to build enduring community relationships that promote and financially support Montefiore Nyack Hospital's comprehensive state-of-the-art medical care, exceptional programs, and outstanding patient experiences. Established in 1985, the Foundation is dedicated to building meaningful relationships between Hospital and the community, while also seeking philanthropic dollars that help Montefiore Nyack achieve and maintain the highest level of care for the patients and community members who count on us as their community hospital. Montefiore Nyack is a 391-bed acute care medical and surgical hospital serving Rockland County and the lower Hudson Valley region. 2020 marked the Hospital’s 125th Anniversary of meeting the critical needs of people in the community. What started as a two-story house with nine beds, operating room, nurse’s parlor, reception area and dining room has today become a major regional medical center. Because of supporters like you, we were able to purchase state-of-the-art and provide the highest standard of care. Your support ensures that our healthcare team stays on the leading edge of treatment and technology. Because of your support, we can provide the best of care, close to home. Montefiore Nyack is the Hospital that YOU built!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Nyack Mayor Terry Martin Hekker.

A trailblazer and the first woman to serve as Mayor, Mrs. Hekker led our village with grace, conviction, and unwavering devotion. Her love for Nyack—and its people—was felt in everything she touched.

We are especially grateful for her lifelong support of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. She believed in our mission, championed our work, and understood the vital role a community hospital plays in the lives of local families. Her partnership strengthened our connection to the village she served so passionately.

We join the entire Nyack community in mourning this tremendous loss.
May her memory be a blessing.

At Montefiore Nyack Hospital, the care we provide is made possible through the generosity and support of our donors. This month, we are proud to spotlight Leonora S., who has been a valued donor since 2017. Her heartfelt gratitude reminds us of the profound impact compassionate care can have on patients and their families.

In a letter to the Foundation, Leonora shared her experience following a medical emergency on June 20, 2024. Having previously undergone three surgeries for bowel obstruction, she arrived at our Emergency Department feeling understandably anxious.

🎀 TOP FUNDRAISING TEAM ALERT! 🎀

A huge round of applause for our powerhouse team — The Pink Ladies! 💗 Together, this incredible team of four, led by Helen Hayes-Perkins, raised an amazing $19,977 toward our more than $180,000 raised for the 4th Annual Rides & Strides! 🚴‍♀️💪

Special shoutout to Karen Profenna and Sophie, her wonderful therapy dog, who raised a combined $18,452, making them our 1st and 2nd place individual fundraisers this year!

🌟 Both have volunteered since Rides & Strides began, and Sophie — our beloved mascot — continues to steal the show (and our hearts!) with her best doggie tricks 🐾💖

We’re also so grateful to Helen and Karen, both members of our Rides & Strides Planning Committee. Their passion and dedication make this event possible every year.

We’re truly lucky to have Helen, Karen, Sophie, and Julia as co-workers, committee members, volunteers, and friends. 💕

💖 Let’s hear it for the girls! 💖

Meet Keya Kulshreshtha, a junior at Nanuet Senior High School, who has been volunteering at Montefiore Nyack Hospital throughout the school year and during the 2025 summer program.

“I am tremendously thankful for my experiences as a volunteer, most of which were completely new to me. From completing tasks, all the way to the wonderful interactions I have had with people, I have an increased appreciation for all the care, effort, and attention to detail that is put towards patients in this hospital,” Keya shared. She has found inspiration in watching our staff provide comfort to patients—even after long, exhausting days—fueling her ambition to one day enter the healthcare field and emulate their dedication.
