Maternal health in this country is not experienced equally, and the gaps are not accidental. They’re shaped by history, policy, bias, and access.

There are brilliant Black-led organizations doing this work right here; if you don’t know them yet, start there. Follow them. Learn from them. Support them.

I believe birth care should be safe and respectful across the board. That belief isn’t seasonal, but this month is a good reminder to say it out loud.

For families who know they don’t want the traditional hospital vibe but also aren’t totally comfortable with a home birth, this is such a beautiful middle ground.

Private rooms, showers, deep soaking tubs, and space for you and your partner.

Birth centers like BSD give you skilled midwifery care in an environment that feels safe, warm, and human, not clinical and chaotic. You still have safety protocols and trained professionals, but you’re not navigating overhead paging systems, shift changes every 12 hours, or hospital policies that don’t always center you.

Birth is unpredictable. Some go exactly as planned and some… absolutely do not.

But TOLACs are always special to attend. Not because they “have to” end in a VBAC, but because they are full of intention, courage, and faith in your choices.

Even when a TOLAC ends in a repeat cesarean, I hope my clients felt heard. Felt supported. Felt like their voice mattered.

A meaningful birth is not tied to one specific outcome. And trauma is not created by surgery; it’s created by being ignored, dismissed, or steamrolled.

Proud to do this work. Also super tired.

It has been a while, so I want to take a moment to be transparent about who I am and who Baby To Go is for.

🏳️‍🌈 I support LGBTQIA+ families.
🩺 I affirm women’s rights to bodily autonomy.
✊ I stand for democracy, civil liberties, and human dignity.
🕊️ I align myself with those resisting systems that dehumanize and control.

Being a doula is not just about labor positions and feeding plans. It’s about whose bodies are respected, whose choices are protected, and who feels safe in vulnerable moments.

If that alignment feels supportive and grounding to you, I am happy you are here. If it doesn’t, this probably isn’t your space and I’m very okay with that.
