Congratulations to our MICU team on earning the Downtime Drill Champion Award! This award recognizes the department that conducted the most “Downtime” drills as part of our Emergency Management Preparedness training. These exercises ensure staff are equipped with the tools and processes needed to keep their units running smoothly during an electronic system downtime.

We’re also proud to share that Montefiore Nyack Hospital ranked #1 within the Montefiore Health System! This year, our team completed an impressive 1,125 drills with 6,022 participants. Thank you to all our teams for their dedication to patient safety and preparedness.

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking volunteers to support patients during mealtimes through its SPOONS (Support and Promotion of Optimal Nutritional Status) program. Volunteers may assist with tray setup, provide feeding support, or offer companionship, making a meaningful impact on the patient experience.

Directed by the Education and Volunteer Department, the SPOONS program provides training for those assisting adult patients who need support or simply a friendly presence while eating.

On Bring Your Child to Work Day, we welcomed 22 future healthcare professionals, ages 6 to 10, for a special behind the scenes experience across our hospital. From the operating room and imaging to nursing, infection prevention, environmental services, the laboratory, and a tour of the pediatric Emergency Department, they explored many areas that keep our patients safe and cared for each day.

The group also enjoyed a visit from first responders, who shared an up close look at a fire truck and ambulance. Throughout the day, the children took part in hands on activities, interactive presentations, and received plenty of goodies to take home.

One of the highlights was a pizza lunch prepared by the children with guidance from our Food and Nutrition team, along with a visit from our President.

It was an inspiring day and a wonderful reminder that the future of healthcare is bright.
