Sometimes our minds send quiet signals that we need more support, and we might be missing them!

If you’ve been feeling constantly exhausted, disconnected from things you once enjoyed, or overwhelmed by everyday tasks, it might be time to pause and check in with yourself.

These experiences are more common than people realize, and support is available.

🌱 Behind the Barn Door: The Gardens
We've got big plans growing out here at The Farm — and we mean that literally.

In this week's Behind the Barn Door update, Emily walks you through where our therapeutic gardens will take root. These spaces will play a real role in the healing process for the people we serve, but right now? They're still just dirt and dreams.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for volunteers who want to help bring these gardens to life — whether you've got a green thumb, strong hands, or just a willing heart, there's a place for you out here.

Drop us a message or comment below if you'd like to get involved. Let's grow something meaningful together.

Healing rarely happens in one big breakthrough.

More often, it happens in smaller moments, like deciding to talk about something that’s been weighing on you, showing up to an appointment even when it feels hard, or simply realizing you don’t have to navigate things alone.

At Karla Smith Behavioral Health, we believe every step forward matters. Progress doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful. Sometimes the most important step is simply deciding to keep going.

And when people do take that step, we’re here to walk beside them. Ready to learn more?

There are SO many ways to support the build out of KSBH at The Farm.

Some people are able to give financially.
Others contribute time, experience, or skills.

If you have expertise in areas like landscaping, construction, gardening, or similar trades, we’d love to connect.

Community effort is what makes projects like this possible!

Interested in volunteering? Send us a direct message or contact Emily at emily.smith@karlasmithbehavioralhealth.org

A quick update on our capital campaign to transform “KSBH at The Farm” into a full-service therapeutic campus!

Thanks to the support of our incredible KSBH community, we’ve raised an amazing $400,000+ toward our goal of $650,000.

Every contribution is helping move this vision forward and bring this space closer to reality.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the project so far. You can still contribute here to help the future of our local youth: https://karlasmithbehavioralhealth.org/capital-campaign-2026/

At Karla Smith Behavioral Health, treating our Teen Clients isn't a job, it's a passion. We love working with our kids and their families, and the results speak for themselves. If you have a teen struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, lack of motivation, self-harming behaviors, anger or withdraw, please call us.
Do you feel like you're walking on eggshells?
Is your entire family disrupted by challenging behaviors? We want to help.
We have some spots opening in our intensive group program, but also offer individual and family therapy for clients who just a little help to get back on the right track. Call us at 618-624-5771, or complete an inquiry form on our website.

We have a small white barn on the property, and a big vision for what it can become.

Right now, as you can see, it’s in pretty rough shape. We’re looking specifically for people who love to build and bring spaces back to life to help turn this space into something really special!

Whether you’re experienced in construction, woodworking, repairs, or just willing to lend a hand, we’d love to connect. If you’re interested, send us a message and let’s chat!

Friends,

Creating our future home is an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. It’s taken countless hours of dreaming, researching, planning, and refining—made possible only through the wisdom and dedication of our KSBH Board, the Canning Family, our brilliant creative team at Dovetail, and the incredible experts who have stepped forward to guide us.

Today, I received the final blueprints for our Farmhouse therapy suite. I wasn’t prepared for the emotion that hit me when I saw “Karla Smith Behavioral Health” printed boldly across the plans. In that moment, it all became real. This isn’t just a vision—it’s happening. And it’s more meaningful than I can fully express.

Michelle Braddock—thank you for your brilliance, your patience, and the care you’ve poured into every detail. You have truly brought the Farmhouse vision into focus in the most beautiful way.

Friends, we are building this for you. Mental health touches every life and every family—sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly, but always meaningfully. The Farm will be a place to retreat, to feel, to heal, and to ultimately step forward, stronger and more whole.

Thank you for believing in this mission. What’s coming will change lives—yours, your family’s, and our community’s.
