Our girl, E, came into the office at just 4 weeks old with her worried mama. After a difficult birth, she was constantly showing discomfort. Ms. E was spitting up before, during and after every single feed. She was being tough to burp, held upright for extended time, could not be laid down flat, getting lactation support, using gas drops, warm baths and continuous movement to try to ease her pain - doing All. The. Things.

Teaming up her chiropractic care, with her lactation support, a tongue tie release, and fascial support, a much happier babe is emerging!! She came in showing a tired and worn out nervous system. What's with that round ligament pain anyway?!?!

The round ligaments attach to the top of the uterus on each side. While they are typically only a few inches long, as the uterus expands with your growing baby the muscular tissue thickens and stretches to double it's length, to accommodate the weight and growth of the uterus. The ligament reach down into the groin and join with ligaments in the pelvic floor.

Many times mamas complain of a sharp or stabbing ⚡feeling often felt in the lower belly, p***c, or pelvic floor area on one or both sides. It can be brought on with your movements- sometimes suddenly changing position and really common after sleeping when the ligaments may have been stretched without support while side-lying. Your position, baby's position and gravity all play into the balance of the tension in the ligaments.

Assessing the balance and movement of the pelvis that provides the structure and anchor for the soft tissues of the pelvis along with specific, gentle techniques to address the findings allow so many moms to find tremendous relief during their pregnancy.

FAQ- Is it too late to get care in my pregnancy?

Erin asked in our story earlier this week “Is 33 weeks to late to get help with my back pain and round ligament pain?”

No way! Obviously, we can’t predict exactly when baby is going to arrive, but it’s never too late to work towards alleviating symptoms you have right now in preparation for birth and postpartum recovery.

If you have settled that your pain is just a “normal part of pregnancy”, let’s banish that thought together! (🗣️ especially since I bet that it is impacting your sleep, energy levels, and ability to move comfortably)

The better you feel, the better you function!
