Recently, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Windemere President Denise Schepici announced her retirement, effective December 31, 2025, after eight years of service. During her tenure, Denise helped address two of the Island’s most pressing needs: affordable staff housing and long-term care for seniors. With support from community leaders and partners, she guided the development of the Edgartown housing project and advanced Navigator Homes of Martha’s Vineyard, a new skilled nursing facility set to replace Windemere later this year.

In a note to staff, Denise says, “We have championed what local healthcare can be at its best, when patients come first, access to care is equitable, healthcare professionals are empowered and entrusted, and leaders are courageous in their promotion of health, wellness and decency.”

Thank you, Denise, for your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Island community. Your legacy will continue to shape the future of healthcare on Martha’s Vineyard.
