They're both common. They can both cause infertility. They are not the same thing.

PCOS and endometriosis are both incredibly common and both are frequently misunderstood, even by the patients living with them. They have different mechanisms, different symptoms, and different treatment approaches. Both can affect fertility and both deserve proper diagnosis and care.

If you've been diagnosed with either, or suspect you might have one, our team would love to talk. Call 630-954-0054 or visit reproductivemedicineinstitute.com.

1 in 10 women have endometriosis. Many wait nearly a decade for a diagnosis.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis affects an estimated 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, yet despite how common it is, the average time from symptom onset to diagnosis remains 7–10 years.

At RMI, we believe every patient deserves answers, not years of being dismissed. Swipe through to learn what endometriosis is, how it presents, and why it's so frequently overlooked.

If you've been told your pain is "just bad periods" — we'd love to talk.

The truth: Illinois already leads the nation in fertility coverage, and new state updates in 2026 will expand those protections even further.

Our latest blog breaks down what’s changing federally, what’s guaranteed here in Illinois, and how to make the most of your benefits.

Thinking about testosterone? Here’s what you should know first.

It may sound surprising, but testosterone therapy or anabolic steroid use can actually shut down s***m production.

👉 Here’s why:

When you add outside testosterone, your brain senses you already have “enough.”

That shuts down FSH + LH, the hormones that tell your te**es to make s***m.

The result? S***m production drops — sometimes short-term, sometimes lasting much longer.

⚠️ Long-term use can even cause testicular shrinkage and infertility risk.

If fatherhood is in your future, testosterone is not the answer. The good news? There are safe, proven ways to support male fertility — from lifestyle changes to evidence-based medical care.

💜 Because male fertility matters too.

Our Story

With a combined expertise that spans more than 20-years, the fertility specialists at Reproductive Medicine Institute (RMI) understand that every patient is different and every story unique - like our own.

Founded in 2008, RMI was the combination of two highly successful independent practices – Drs. Nasir Rana, W. Paul Dmowski, and Elena Trukhacheva of Oak Brook Fertility and Dr. John Rinehart of Rinehart Center for Reproductive Medicine. Fast forward to 2016 and RMI welcomed Dr. Shweta Nayak from the Magee-Women’s hospital of Pittsburgh.

Built on a foundation of providing safe and advanced treatment options delivered with compassionate expertise, RMI has become one of the largest and most successful fertility centers in the Midwest. While most of our parents-to-be come from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, we are privileged to see patients from around the world.

Our mission is to create a culture of excellence. Team RMI caters to each person’s individual needs throughout their fertility journey. We provide the most advanced medical technology, access to financial solutions and emotional support. We help you to achieve your dream of parenthood in an environment that fosters collaboration, knowledge and compassion.
