Association of Educational Therapists

Association of Educational Therapists AET, the national professional association for educational therapists, defines and sets standards for the professional practice of educational therapy.

The Association of Educational Therapists (AET) is the national professional organization dedicated to defining the professional practice of educational therapy, setting standards for ethical practice, and promoting state-of-the-art service delivery through on-going professional development and training programs. AET provides information to the public about educational therapy and facilitates access to educational therapy services. Educational therapists provide intensive, individualized educational interventions for children and adults with learning disabilities and other learning challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, language processing problems, poor motivation, low academic self-esteem, performance anxiety and poor social, organizational, and/or study skills. Clients may include students needing appropriate school placement or adults needing workplace support. Educational therapists are well versed in formal and informal assessment as well as a wide range of learning methods and strategies. They communicate with significant members of the client’s world, including family members, teachers, other professionals, and employers, for the purpose of developing an understanding of the client’s needs and appropriate ways to provide support.

🚧 Heads up, everyone! 🚧

Our registration system has decided to take an unscheduled coffee break, so we’re currently experiencing a technical hiccup when AET members logged into the AET website try to sign up for our webinar on Friday, February 6: The Journey of an ET - Panel Discussion, featuring Daltrey Abney, Lori Dver, Kaini Gu, Danit Kaya, and Julie Ann Scarlata.

No worries though—our fantastic IT team at AH is already working their magic behind the scenes 🧙‍♂️💻, and we’re very appreciative of their efforts.

In the meantime, if you’d like to register, simply email us at webinars@aetonline.org and we’ll manually get you signed up and send your login information directly. A little extra human touch never hurt anyone. 😉

Thanks for your patience while we sort things out, and we can’t wait to see you at the webinar!

Webinar details can be found on the AET website at https://aetonline.org/events/webinars

Date: Friday, February 6th, 2026
Start time: 12:00 pm UTC, 10:00 am PST
Duration: 90 minutes
Educational therapy is a career defined by growth, reflection, and resilience. This panel brings together five educational therapists at distinct points in their professional journeys to explore the evolving nature of the work.
Our panelists include a retiring ET, a school-based ET, an ET who transitioned from solo to group practice, an ET who’s starting private practice, and an ET who took medical leave. Through shared stories and honest conversation, this session invites fellow educational therapists to reflect on their own paths — to see what growth can look like at different stages, to normalize change and challenge, and to take away insights that support a sustainable, meaningful professional life.
