Everyone who has ever held a job has, at some point, felt the pressure of work-related stress. Any job can have stressful elements, even if you love what you do. In the short term, you may experience pressure to meet a deadline or to fulfill a challenging obligation. But when work stress becomes chronic, it can be overwhelming—and harmful to both physical and emotional health. Unfortunately, such long-term stress is all too common. In fact, a stress survey found that work is consistently cited as a significant source of stress by a majority of Americans. You can’t always avoid the tensions that occur on the job. Yet you can take steps to manage work-related stress.

If you’d like to discuss managing your stress, contact The Genesis Therapy Center. With over 35 years in the Chicagoland area, one of our professionals can certainly help. Visit www.GenesisTherapy.org or call 708-535-7320.

Chronic stress, that is, failure to deal with it for a long time and remaining in a prolonged and constant feeling of stress, can lead to life-threatening problems. From hypertension, heart diseases, decreased immunity, loss of sociability, and decreased mental vitality, stress is not to be taken lightly!

, observed on the first Wednesday in November, was established to raise public awareness and help individuals recognize, manage, and reduce stress in their personal and professional lives. Are you afraid to start therapy? Sitting across from a therapist for the first time can feel unsettling. The questions start running through your mind: Why do they care? What do they think of me? Am I about to unpack things I didn’t even realize I was carrying? It can be a vulnerable space, especially when that therapist is, for now, just a stranger. But here’s the truth: we do care. It’s impossible to do this job without genuine empathy, without believing in the power of healing, without holding deep respect for each person who walks through the door. Therapy isn’t about judgment or observation from a distance. It’s about meeting you where you are, whether that’s feeling guarded, skeptical, exhausted, or hopeful.

The fears you have are normal. With over 35 years of service to the community, our professionals focus on empowering you to make more informed decisions, both relational and personal. We have five locations throughout the Chicagoland area, where we provide high-quality counseling and therapy services to all members of our community—regardless of their ability to pay. For more information, visit our website at www.GenesisTherapy.org or call 708-535-7320.
