Finished a pair of short socks from leftover yarn. I didn't follow any particular pattern for them, just casting on my usual amount of stitches and working along with certain goals in mind. I wanted 1x1 ribbing that would carry all along the top of the socks. Eye of Partridge heel flap, like the ones from Hermoine's Everyday Sock pattern, because I love how easy the pickup for the gussets are.

I usually taper the pinky toe edges long before the big toe, but after repeated usage, the taper tends to lose the definition and shifts more towards the center. This time, the 1x1 ribbing continues partially up the big toe, while the other toes lose their ribbing as the taper progresses. That ribbing should make it easier to feel which is the left or right sock even after wearing them over the next year or two.

For those who want to make their own similar socks, this is what I did for this pair:

Size 2 dpns (2.75mm)
64 simple loop cast on
1x1 ribbing until you're ready to make the heel flap
Eye of Partridge heel flap (4 row repeat) repeated 8 times
Work heel turn and gusset
Maintain 1x1 ribbing for top of foot, stockinette for the bottom until 1/4 way up the pinky toe
Begin reducing stitches on pinky toe edge every other round until end of pinky toe is reached or equal to base of big toe nail
Reduce stitches on both sides of toe box until 20 stitches remain
Kitchener to close
Weave in ends

I offer this teeny, tiny bunny as evidence that I have not fallen into a well. πŸ˜† I've been distracted and not been paying attention to the date, which is how it has been months before I made a post about anything.

Allow me to tell you about this wee little bun. The pattern is "Teeny, Tiny Bunny" by Claire Garland aka . I found the pattern on Etsy and Ravelry at a very reasonable price (less than $3.) The bunny is knitted flat with sewing to close it up. I highly recommend stitch markers and a crochet hook appropriate for the yarn you decide to use. Be sure you are comfortable with picking up stitches, short rows, and mattress stitching.

I used some leftover Malabrigo yarn from an earlier project, a small amount of fiber fill, and a tiny amount of plastic beans for a weighted blanket (about 1 teaspoon.) It was a fiddly knit the first time through, especially with the yarn I was using. I took a lot of notes and am now working my way through a second rabbit in worsted weight yarn.

So far, most of my frustration points were due to the very small size and unfamiliarity with the pattern. My recommendation is to give it a go with a larger yarn than fi*****ng the first time through.

I demo'd spinning during my birthday and the day after, spinning when I wasn't talking to people about their questions about my wheel, fiber, and spinning in general. There were some moments that stood out, both positive and negative, but overall a very happy experience.

This is a 30/70 merino/silk blend, spun very fine (z-single) and chain plied (s-plied). I had one bobbin freed up for this event and I wanted to spin for as long as possible on the one bobbin. πŸ˜† There's still a bath in store for this tiny skein, then yardage and wpi can be determined.

The last of my BFL purchased during the Spin-In of 2024 has been spun, plied, and the twist set. It's a wonderful blue toned shade of gray and I wanted it for remaking the Owlie socks by Julie Elswick Suchomel that I made years ago with a random grey yarn. Little did I know that the yarn was acrylic, and I wasn't able to tolerate wearing them for more than a few minutes before my feet started to sweat.

This time, I planned out my yarn choice specifically for this pattern and my own comfort. More photos as the sock progresses. ☺️

Something to kick-start my knitting creativity, I crafted these tiny octagonal puff pillows to fulfill a particular role. These tiny pillows are going to live in the tiny space between the toe and the tip of these very lovely shoes. They were an amazing price ($6) and I loved the color, but they're one size too big.

They've been tested out and are not an annoyance yet. Walks and time will decide if that will hold true in the future.

Should you want to make your own toebox cushions, these took less than an hour from start to finish. Instructions can be found on my Ravelry project page at https://ravel.me/Rhyslarn/tc

Say "Hello!" This is Jake the Dog from Adventure Time, he's a very good boy and he's going to be joining Science the Rat from last year's birthday this coming weekend. Eventually, I hope to have Finn, and a few of the princesses from the show worked up. ☺️

She's done! Technically, I wove in the last end three weeks ago, but I finally laid her out for an overshot photo Wednesday night. There's still a final yarn tally to do, a project page to update on Ravelry, and a final wash and block before she'll be available for sale.

For now though? Enjoy the vibrancy of colors! 😁

I was two rounds past this point when I discovered that I missed a stitch. 😭 It was a bobble round and very obvious that it was missing when I was needing to work over it. So I ripped back and am now in the process of correcting my mistake.

As promised, pictures showing how I closed up the junction holes. Pictures 5-7 are performed twice with any remaining tail hidden away down the seam. Next comes the last 9 rounds! 😁

The 18 granny squares are finished, ends woven in, and attached to the main body of the blanket. I intentionally oriented the strips to trap the ending stitch against the main body so that I could use the tail to cinch up the resulting hole at the intersection. Those pictures are to follow, but in the meantime, please enjoy the vibrant colors!

Currently on the hook, granny square expansions for the Sophie's Universe blanket. There are 18 squares, Jack and Lydia, 9 of each. I mixed up my Jack squares, worked rounds 6 & 7 from Lydia so I put Jack's 6 & 7 on Lydia instead. For some reason, it's been an absolute slog trying to weave in the ends until round 6 hits, then I'm fine. 🀷

They're unblocked at the moment, but I'll be sewing them to the main blanket soon! And then? Then the last few rounds until it's done growing and all the little details are able to be added.

I'm not sure what will become the next focus crochet/knit project, but Tour de Fleece is approaching and I've not enough alpaca prepped to make it through the month. So perhaps alpaca prep for home, spindle spinning for knit nights? πŸ€”
