FAQ: What’s the biggest misconception about deep tissue massage?

One of the most common myths is that deep tissue massage has to hurt — or that it’s just about using more pressure.

In reality, deep tissue work is intentional, gradual, and therapeutic.

Your therapist typically begins with heat and stretching to warm the muscles and prepare the body. Pressure is then increased slowly as they work through the layers of tissue — always responding to how your body releases.

Deep tissue massage is about:
• Accessing deeper muscle layers safely
• Improving mobility and circulation
• Encouraging release, not forcing it

It should feel productive and relieving, not overwhelming or painful. Communication with your therapist is always key!
