Yesterday was a birthday celebration. KLPT turned 3 on November 5th.

I later learned that it’s also International Prosthetics and Orthotics Day and National Redhead Day. Seems a little serendipitous to me that I filed for my LLC (now PLLC, thank you il.gov) on this date. 🥰🩷🧡

My apologies that I no longer have a social media presence but I am still here. And my patients are still making me so proud of their hard work and accomplishments every day. Trust me, behind the scenes of the KLPT letters are people doing amazing things both big and small to better themselves in this adventure we call life. I am so incredibly grateful and lucky to be a tiny part.

A million thanks to all who put their trust in me to help them reach their mobility goals. And to all who support me along the way to make this possible. Nothing goes unnoticed or unappreciated.

Let’s all keep making adventures possible in our lives, no matter the circumstances.

wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for certain people. There are no words to adequately thank them.

Because it’s a sunflower kind of day (one of my favorite flowers by the way being a Kansas girl, the sunflower state).

Haven’t posted a lot of reasons .. I hope to get back to posting amazing things my patients are doing but for now, this.
-
Apologies that I missed my final updates. Thank you all who supported financially and with miles (you know who you are and I appreciate you so much) and me with my 100 miles.

Important months that passed- May: ALS Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, June: , July: National Picnic month- who knew? And we had an epic one with bionic hand hitting taco piñatas and more. Thank you, David Rotter Prosthetics. And

It has been a busy few months. And worth every tough moment when I receive a text like the above a patient who is one of the most determined, hard-working people I know. This is WHY I do what I do. There are no words for how amazing it is to witness my patients working so hard every day and facing their fears and making adventures happen in their lives again after major hardship and challenges. I am proud of every single patient. And their loved ones too for supporting along the way.
-
Though I have been absent with posts, I have been present in moments. Hopefully I can manage both in the future to get back to the KLPT work on here. Until then, enjoy the sunflowers and moments in time. 🌻🦾❤️

even when you have covid! Getting in some miles masked up and away from people. Because mobility matters. And I want to help others get access to prosthetic care and physical therapy.

For Limb Loss Limb Difference Awareness Month , we wear orange. 507 people lose a limb per day in the US. And that is just the US. We stand with all of you in support and are here to listen.

I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with the most amazing people on my journey as a PT and specifically in the limb loss community. Thank you to all of you who make the world a better place and lift others up, who show us that amputation is not a failure but rather a means to being a stronger and better version of yourself.
-
Thank you to for these shirts, for supporting a common cause along with other amazing organizations.

Join me and a number of many other amazing organizations and businesses including ( to name a few) to support the limb loss / limb difference community for Limb Loss Awareness Month and a mission to illustrate the importance of Mobility as a human right.
-
Every human deserves a way to be mobile, in whatever way possible, and for many in this world living with limb loss, it’s a missing prosthesis that limits a person’s freedom with mobility.
-
Follow along on how to support these organizations this month so we can all contribute to giving the gift of mobility.
-
To me, Mobility means adventure. And adventure means anything that brings you joy and excitement in life. And everyone deserves that! Let’s make adventures possible for all.
-
Working together with the whole healthcare team including prosthetists is how this happens for those with limb loss/difference.
-
And that brings me to an important member of the healthcare team, the incredible and creative occupational therapists for , for without them, the limb loss community would be limited in innumerable ways. Thank you for all you do to make adventures possible and give people the gift of improved mobility and independence with what you do.
-
What can you do to make mobility possible for those in this world who are limited? For your loved ones, for those in your community, in your country, and around the globe?

My brother Chad tended to his smoked fish and meats like he did people in the room- with pristine care and awareness of exactly what each needed to feel connected and comfortable and good. He knew how to say or do exactly what you needed to bring out a smile or laugh. Truly a gift. You would think he was a therapist. But maybe I get that from him and can use to help people reach their mobility goals. Feeling connected, comfortable and good is imperative to reaching optimal physical performance and being your best, doing your best. So thank you, big brother, for being you and teaching us what is important.
-
He made me feel loved and protected. And always kept me laughing. So today, in honor of his legacy 3 years since he left us too soon, think about what you need to feel connected, comfortable and good to be your best self.
-
And again, eat some pork butt or bacon, make someone laugh because he’d like that.
-
Miss you more than ever, big brother. What do you think about the LA RAMS this year? Wondering if you’re placing your bet on them again. Let us know. We might still hear you.

Happy Holidays from the KLPT family to yours. 2021🎄❤️
-
I hope this finds you surrounded by people who love and support you.
-
If the holidays are a difficult time for you for whatever reason, we are sending you warmth, support and hugs.
-
We are eternally grateful for all of your support for KLPT and our KLPT family.
-
Making holiday adventures possible. So proud of all my patients who are able to celebrate with their families this holiday season in ways they couldn’t before because of all the hard work they put in. 💪❤️💚

If the shoe fits, wear it. What if the shoe doesn’t fit? And I’m using this metaphorically for what my patients go through all the time. If the prosthesis fits, wear it. But what if it doesn’t? (This pic just happened to crack me up trying on my 16 yo nephews new shoe. Omg! Works to make my point 😆)
-
When a prosthesis doesn’t feel right, performance goes down, confidence goes down and with that, mobility and ultimately independence, self-efficacy and health will also decline. This is heartbreaking. As a therapist, I can not emphasize enough how important it is to make sure your team hears you and listens until it fits and feels right. This can be a process but imperative to reach your goals. When you feel good in your prosthesis, you will soar!!! 🦾🦿
And for the therapists out there working with this population, I encourage working directly with the prosthetists simultaneously to optimize outcomes and patient satisfaction. ❤️
-
I am not an amputee myself so I don’t know what it feels like for my patients but I can tell you with skiing and snowboarding how much my performance would be impacted if my boots fit did or didn’t right, felt good or awful, were or weren’t rubbing blisters etc. If it currently doesn’t feel good, keep at it until it does and make sure your team hears you!!
-
I am so lucky to work with the best. Feel blessed to get to see the happy faces of patients feel good and meeting goals every day. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and those of my patients, to the amazing prosthetists making sure the shoe aka prosthesis fits so patients can soar and get their lives back!
-
-
What do you do when your prosthesis doesn’t feel right? Does your team hear you and listen?

Find those who bring out the best in you. And if you’re in need of someone to help you reach your physical goals, and can’t find that person, DM me to see if We can help find that person for you.
-
Thankful for my teams. and the community that surrounds it is one of them. Did you know KLPT wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for my years volunteering (still going), connecting and working with people involved in this organization?? Forever grateful!
-
Thank you all who have helped me support ! Maybe you’ve also volunteered your time or expertise, maybe you’re on my team KLPT and DRP Fan Club running miles and donating, maybe you’ve been with me from the beginning and donated off and on over the years or come to events. Whatever your contribution, thank you. They had an extremely successful event on Friday. They wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the bits adding up. Every person makes a difference.
-
And we are here to make mobility possible. Everyone deserves access to care, to be heard, to technology for their betterment. Let’s continue to make it happen!

Who is on your team and brings out the best in you?

Small business Saturday. We might be small, but we are mighty. Working tirelessly to be our best, to help you be your best. Reaching goals and making adventures possible- every day.

Shoutout to one of the biggest supporters of my small business, thank you! And for letting Ryan run the half marathon with me today. This might be the absolute worst picture ever, but when you’ve been standing in the cold, shivering for an hour, this is what you get, still smiles.
