Our team at Healthy Tooth Dental has been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic as it relates to providing care for our patients. We have followed daily and up to date recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and our Illinois Department of Public Health. Our efforts were followed and modified as guidance was established with additional safety measures above and beyond our already followed comprehensive universal standards and infection control. At this point, our Illinois State Dental Society has asked that we treat only patients *requiring emergency dental procedures* and postpone elective dental treatment for a period of two weeks beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 31. This is for the best of our patients, staff, and community at large.
Our office will remain open for *emergency patients* with the following precautions:
• Each patient will be pre-screened by phone prior to the visit by asking about recent travel history and current health. Specific COVID-19 symptoms are fever, coughing and shortness of breath. If you report that you have any of these symptoms, you will be referred to your primary care physician who will guide you on how to proceed.
• If you must be seen, we ask that when you arrive – you remain in your car instead of coming into the waiting room. We will notify you by cell phone when your treatment room is ready.
• You will have your temperature taken immediately upon arrival.
• You will be asked to wash your hands in the operatory and rinse with a hydrogen peroxide solution.
In the upcoming days, our office will be calling all patients that have scheduled their check up and cleaning appointments to cancel these appointments. If you are in a temporary appliance, i.e. temporary crown or bridge, we will also call you to provide guidance on how to complete your definitive treatment.
We value our patients and want you to know that we are still available to you virtually. Our ultimate goal is to “flatten the curve” by slowing and halting the transmission. This will also help medical professionals at the emergency rooms have access to as many personal protective equipment (PPE) that they can have.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
