From an integrative perspective, oxidative stress and inflammation are key factors. While lifestyle changes can't completely treat the disease, they can certainly complement other treatments.

Recommended: 25–30g/day
Reality: ~15g/day

Some of the best fiber-rich plant foods:
½ avocado = 5g

½ cup legumes = 7–9g

My favorite nutrition tip for National Nutrition Month?

"The only foods you should avoid are those you are allergic to, could choke on, or absolutely dislike."

With that said, not everything should be consumed all the time, and you'd probably be surprised how many different foods you aren't eating that you should be! In my sessions, I usually encourage people to add certain foods to find balance, rather than focusing on what to remove.

This philosophy is something I practice not only in my work, but in everyday life with my family. Food is meant to nourish us, bring us together, and support long-term wellness—not create stress or guilt.

Things you'll always find in my kitchen: eggs, fresh fruit, mixed nuts, dark chocolate, bean-based pasta, frozen salmon and chicken thighs, plain Greek yogurt, Italian seasoning and taco seasoning, and red wine.

Welcome, Iunona Dumitru (she/her) is a Registered Nurse (BSN) with over a decade of bedside experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center. She combines her clinical expertise with a background in customer service, making her adept at teaching and guiding others to understand their health.

With a BS in Economics and a curiosity about the intersection of human behavior, incentives, and decision-making, Iunona likes learning about neuroscience and behavioral science to better understand why we act the way we do and how that understanding can support lasting health and wellness goals.

Iunona champions preventive care and an integrative approach that addresses mind, body, and spirit. She likes working with patients on their health and wellness journey.
