Meet Laura🖤

Laura has been teaching yoga since 2019 after earning her 200hr YTTC in Koh Phangan, Thailand. She started her own yoga journey, almost two decades ago, after her sister invited her to a class at a local gym. "I was in so much pain in child's pose just waiting for the teacher to let us move and he just kept talking! I wasn't sure it was for me, but something about it had me coming back over and over again..." Laura attributes the beginning of her spiritual journey to when she began falling in love with vinyasa flow. "I would have tears in my eyes when I felt my energy flow through my body, I had never felt so magical before!" She knew she would be a yoga teacher one day, creating a space for others to fall in love with themselves as well.

In Power Yoga, Laura loves to inspire your connection to your body using the breath and creative cueing to keep you in the present moment. She creates unique flows that build strength with grace, while also feeling grounded and capable. In her Yin class she cultivates a space of serenity, safety and calm for you to let go completely and find restoration and balance of the mind, body and soul. She is also a reiki practitioner, feminine embodiment coach and sound bath facilitator.

You can find Laura on our schedule Tuesdays at 6:45 PM and Thursday at 5:30 and 6:45 PM!

Passive vs Active Flexibility 🌺 Here’s the diff!

Passive flexibility is what your body can fall into.
Active flexibility is what your body can own.

One builds range.
The other builds strength, control, and resilience.

At FlowFit, we train both—because flexibility without strength is where injuries sneak in.

Control your range. Move with intention. Get strong where you’re bendy 💪🧘‍♀️

Natarajasana (Dancer's Pose) is a beautiful balance of strength, flexibility, and focus. It may look graceful, but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

A few things to think about in class this week while we work this pose:
✨ Root strongly through your standing foot
✨ Lift through your chest before kicking your back foot up
✨ Press your foot into your hand to create the backbend and remain active
✨ Keep your standing leg strong and steady by pulling up on your kneecap

Remember — it’s not about how high the leg goes. It’s about finding stability, openness, and control in your body.

See you Wednesday at 5:30 PM, Friday at 9:30 AM and Sunday at 9:30 AM for work on Dancer's Pose and other heart openers this week!

✨Meet Maria✨

Maria has been with FlowFit since the very beginning and she is a crucial part of our teaching squad!
María was an educator by profession, but found a path that led her to yoga, massage therapy and healthier living. Her passion for yoga started in 2010 when she took her first heated vinyasa class. She was drawn to the flowing rhythm of poses, as well as the mental clarity she got after a good Hot class. She felt most centered at the studio, thus decided to take teacher training. Maria became certified in Power Yoga & continued to add to her knowledge with more training. She’s currently certified to teach 11 yoga & fitness formats. She has been able to incorporate yoga into all aspects of her life and is happier and more balanced because of it. She’s excited to share this gift with others at FlowFit!

Maria’s philosophy as an instructor is all about helping students discover the profound connection between body, mind & spirit. “I began my personal yoga practice for the physical benefits, but ended up finding so much more. I hope that as an instructor I can help others make the same discovery.”

Maria currently teaches at 4:30 and 5:30 Tuesday, as well as 9:30 Monday and Wednesday. You’ll leave her class with new knowledge about your body and feeling energized!

Let’s talk shoulder and core stability 💪

Strength is important. We love to be able to do a lot of reps and lift heavy things. In addition to load, stability helps support the health and strength of our muscles, connective tissue and joints. Core stability helps control our balance, transitions, and ability to lift those grave loads safely! Shoulder stability again helps with load, but also can keep these mobile joints healthy especially when doing a practice with lots of chaturangas. Both your shoulder and core stability are key players in inversions and arm balances as well. Join me tonight, Friday and Sunday for stability galore! Interested in arm balancing? We still have room in our May 2nd workshop with ! Click the link in our bio to get signed up.

In Strength & Mobility, we'll start by actively mobilizing the body specifically for the planned strength training section. We will teach you how to properly warm-up and build muscle in a workshop style format. Don’t let that confuse you, you’ll be sure to break a sweat and build strength. Unlike Yoga Sculpt, where you are moving throughout in a slow-twitch endurance style workout, interval training focuses on bringing the heart rate up and down for a more powerful and fast-twitch experience. This class is a great compliment to our other formats.

Come experience us for free, next Thursday! Our spring open house will be going on all day. In EVERY CLASS you have the chance to win a yoga mat! Bring your friends, bring your family, let them all experience the magic of FlowFit!
