When we choose ego/pride over mental wellness, we will quickly begin to “see” & “feel” our mental wellness begin to deteriorate and suffer. 

The thing about choosing our ego/pride is that even thought we “see” and “feel” our mental wellness suffering, it clouds our awareness and ability to ask for help.

Sometimes, we have to choose ourselves over how we will be accepted, perceived, or thought of by people.

IT’S OK TO CHOOSE YOU! ✨🫶✨🫶

Hey friends…

When we grow up in an environment that sends us messages that we owe our caregivers for life, food, shelter, etc… This often rolls over into our adulthood and these people try to remind us of the debt every chance they get or when we try to assert our boundaries or autonomy. This often is what fuels our thoughts that sometimes make us think… “well if I can just earn enough to give them a big check then I’ll pay them back for the things they did for me” or “if I accomplish XYZ, then they’ll finally be proud and no longer criticize me”, etc.

I want to be the person to remind you that you are not in debt to anyone who was supposed to be your caregiver.

Be kind to yourselves, my friends!! 🫶✨🫶✨

It’s easy to see the bravery in stepping away from unhealthy or toxic relationships but the ugly and dark side of this whole process is that we grieve those relationships.

Grief is a very really struggle in this process. Often, we tend to push off this grief and try to convince ourselves that we don’t have the right to grieve the relationship because it was “our choice”.

I’m going to say this loudly for those in the back… IT’S OK TO GRIEVE THOSE RELATIONSHIPS!!

Growing up we get told so many things but the ones that tend to linger are the simplest words (I.e. lazy & unproductive, stupid… to name a few)…

Lazy is a hard one because it’s something that almost everyone has internalized as a measure of productivity or lack there of and self-worth…

These internalized messages then get programmed as fact in our minds and then get projected onto others as fact and not perceptions…

Lazy can mean, “to take time for oneself to rest”It’s ok to “be lazy” and it not mean that you’re doing anything but resting and taking time for yourself…
