Canvas Health

Canvas Health Canvas Health, founded in 1969 is dedicated to offering hope, healing and recovery to peoples lives.

We are community-driven and believe that the vitality and stability of our communities rests on the strength of the individuals and families within them. When those with life impairments are helped to live more freely, we are all lifted up. When we help families and individuals recover from mental illness, chemical dependency, physical and sexual abuse, the world becomes a better place for us all.

When we help seniors to live independently and troubled children to remain at home and in school, we help restore the fabric of family and community life.

Today, April 29, is Denim Day.

Led by our Abuse Response & Prevention Services team, Canvas Health staff are wearing teal and denim to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.

Denim Day reminds us that:
-What someone wears is never an invitation for violence.
-Consent is freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific.
-Believing and supporting survivors matters.

A key part of our Abuse Response & Prevention Services' (ARPS) impact is its close collaboration with local law enforcement. The City of Oakdale, MN - Local Government Police Department partners with our ARPS educators and advocates, helping to strengthen victim-centered responses and community awareness around sexual and relationship violence.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time to uplift survivors, promote prevention, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our communities safe.

At Canvas Health, we’re proud of the ongoing collaboration between Alana Wall, Abuse Response & Prevention Services (ARPS) Supervisor, and the Woodbury, MN Police Fire EMS Community Support Unit. Together, they work to deliver prevention education and advance safety initiatives that support survivors and build a more informed, compassionate community.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

In Washington County, Canvas Health’s Abuse Response & Prevention Services (ARPS) provides free, confidential, trauma‑informed support to survivors of sexual violence and works to prevent harm through education and community partnerships.

In 2025 alone, ARPS supported hundreds of survivors and reached thousands of community members, most of them youth, with prevention education. We’re proud of the life-changing work of this team, and the resilience and strength of the survivors with whom we work.

The ARPS team can be reached on its 24/7 crisis line at (651) 777-1117. Learn more here: https://www.canvashealth.org/sexual-assault-education-therapy-crisis-services/

We're continuing to follow the progress of Sydney Matic, one of our school-based therapists in Forest Lake, who will be embarking on a 14-day trek through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp in October 2026.

Sydney's latest update:

"This Spring Break I was able to get off the treadmill and outside for some training. We spent multiple days hiking throughout Joshua Tree, Death Valley, and Zion. We secured permits for the infamous hike to Angel's Landing which was great practice for Everest Base Camp with a 1,500 ft elevation gain. Some of my hardest days at Base Camp will have over 3,000 ft in elevation gain so I am celebrating the small milestone of being halfway there!"
