Dr. James Starnes was born and raised in Southern California. He has an exceptional education background, having studied pre-med at the UC Irvine, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree and Doctorate from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Additionally, he completed a 3 1/2 year course of study in orthopedics, becoming a Chiropractic Orthopedist. He continues his studies in postural problems, traumatic injury, and work place injury. She had a workplace injury and had been under the care of an Orthopedist for over 3 years. Following negative test results, physical therapy 3 times a week, and tons of medications, the Medical doctors told her that there was nothing wrong with her, and that she'd never be able to have children, and need to take Codeine & Flexeril the rest of her life! The informed her she could "try" Chiropractic care. Within only 3 months, she was off ALL medications and pain free! This proved to be the Catalyst for Dr. Starnes' choice of careers. Dr. Starnes has been in practice since January, 1990, is a Chiropractic Orthopedist, a licensed trainer for BACKSAFE (trademark). He was the Director and President for the Los Angeles Southwest Chiropractic Society of CCA. He is a continuing presenter and teacher of a wide range of health related topics. Dr. Starnes had visited the Bass Lake area in the mid 1970's and when he and Lori had children, they visited the area often. The Starnes family moved to the area in 2006. He is committed to serving the Health and Wellness needs of our mountain neighbors. Dr. Starnes is presently the Clinic Director of Oakhurst Family Chiropractic. As a Chiropractic Orthopedist, he has been providing pain relief and rehabilitation to thousand of patients suffering from neck pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Migraines, headaches, sciatica, mid as well as Low back pain. Erchonia Low-level lasers are used as a powerful tool in the treatment of chronic or unresponsive cases. Dr. Starnes has brought a variety of tools to the mountain community and will accept either pre or post surgical CTS, Chronic Neck or Shoulder pain, Whiplash, or difficult cases.
