💚 Kindness in Action! 💚

Today, our Wellness & Recovery Center adults split into two teams and took part in an Acts of Kindness Scavenger Hunt filled with smiles, teamwork, and good deeds throughout Garrett County.

As part of our community outreach project, service users helped fill the Little Free Pantries of Garrett County with donated food items and delivered handmade holiday door hangers to Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Garrett County Senior Services. Along the way, they completed acts of kindness, shared encouragement with one another, and even recorded short videos about what kindness means to them.

It was a day full of laughter, gratitude, and genuine connection, reminding us all that small acts can make a big difference. 🥫💚

The Child and Adolescent Program at Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. (GLCH) is excited to participate in this year's Festival of Trees by creating a special Christmas tree that represents all 50 states — and we need your help!

We are collecting ornaments from every U.S. state to decorate our tree, which will be donated and auctioned off at the festival. Proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the Dove Center, an organization that provides safety, advocacy, and counseling to individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. The Dove Center also plays a vital role in expanding public awareness and education around these critical issues.

Your ornament donation is more than a decoration — it’s a symbol of hope, unity, and support for survivors in need.

We have officially set up a drop-off station right inside the entryway at Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. for our Wellness and Recovery Center outreach project! 🥫

You’re invited to stop by and drop off any non-perishable food items to help support local individuals and families in need.

As a "thank you", everyone who donates can add their name to our sign-up sheet to be entered in a drawing for a self-care basket and gift card! 💚

📍 Location: 20 East Oak Street, Oakland, MD (entryway drop-off)
🕒 When: Donations accepted Monday-Friday between 8am-3pm

(Please refrain from leaving food items outdoors after hours. You may utilize the covered porch to the right of the building entrance if needed)

💚 Celebrating 1,000 Followers with Purpose 💚

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. as we’ve grown to over 1,000 followers. Each like, share, and word of encouragement represents the community connections that make recovery stronger.

In recognition of this milestone and in response to recent SNAP benefit reductions that have impacted many local households, we’re choosing to give back. The GCLH Wellness & Recovery Center will be collecting non-perishable food donations to benefit Little Free Pantries of Garrett County 🥫

To show our appreciation, anyone who shares this post or brings a donation will be entered into a drawing for a self-care basket and gift card, courtesy of the Wellness & Recovery Center.

Yesterday during Social Skills group our Wellness and Recovery detectives were on the case! The candy basket mysteriously disappeared from the kitchen, and our participants worked together to gather clues, question suspects, and crack the case wide open. 🕵️

After lots of laughter, teamwork, and a few dramatic alibis… the truth came out! Our very own cook, Earl, was the culprit! 🍭🍬

This activity brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of teamwork as everyone played along and used their best detective skills. We love seeing our group connect, problem-solve, and have a great time together here at the Wellness and Recovery Center! 💚

🔥 A HUGE thank you to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department for visiting Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. today! 🔥

We were thrilled to have the crew visit the Wellness and Recovery Center for an incredible fire safety demonstration and hands-on training! Everyone had the chance to practice using a fire extinguisher and learned valuable tips about fire prevention and emergency response.

Our service users and staff had such a great time and walked away feeling more confident and prepared thanks to your time, patience, and dedication. We appreciate all that you do to keep our community safe! ❤️🚒
