My approach
Influenced by my lifelong practice of Aikido, I have developed an intuitive approach to bodywork that invites guarded muscles to open. Aikido depends upon the release of tension, making space for the tension of a would-be adversary to dissipate. Conflict rises out of anxiety and hurt; people who inflict violence do so from a place of pain. I believe that muscular dysfunction operates similarly: Tense muscles are guarding something, be it physical or emotional trauma as a result of the patterns we inhabit or the curve balls that life throws our way. Applying excessive force may trigger the original trauma, causing the body to harden. Therefore, my approach is grounded in active listening. Using gentle but firm touch I seeks to communicate a message of safety, allowing the guarding to ease and the restoration of balance to begin.
A graduate of the National Holistic Institute, I have had extensive training in various modalities including Swedish, Shiatsu, and specializes in Deep Tissue and Myofascial Therapy.
