Fall Health Tip #10 - 🩷October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!🩷
🎀Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. These cells grow and divide in an uncontrolled way, creating a mass of tissue called a tumor.
🎀One in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
🎀45 is the age that the American Cancer Society recommends women of average risk receive their first mammogram.
🎀Early detection saves lives! Talk to your primary care doctor to see if you are due for a screening!

This afternoon, attendees gathered for our October Lunch N Learn as Stephanie Walsh, Executive Assistant & Marketing Coordinator at Mountain Laurel Medical Center, led an engaging session on “Create with Confidence: Canva 101.”
Stephanie guided participants through the essentials of Canva—from navigating the dashboard and choosing templates to using design tools, setting up a brand kit, and sharing or downloading finished projects. She also shared helpful tips and tricks to make creating professional designs easier than ever.
A huge thank you to Stephanie for an excellent presentation and to our generous sponsors—Ally Fox State Farm, K9 Solutions of Maryland, and Trader’s Coffee House—for making this event possible. We also extend our appreciation to Kaitlyn Glotfelty and Garrett College for helping coordinate today’s program and accommodating us in the GIEC after strong interest prompted a venue change from the Visitors Center!

Fall Health Tip #8 - Make sure to get your annual exam (i.e. complete physical, well child check, annual wellness visit) done before the end of the year if you haven't already! 🩺💪
⭐️Well-care visits are important for children and adults as they provide opportunities for comprehensive health assessments, including growth and developmental screenings, immunizations, and preventive counseling.
⭐️These visits allow providers to detect and address potential health issues early, promoting timely intervention and better health outcomes.
⭐️Well-care visits also foster ongoing communication and empower patients and families with knowledge and resources to promote their physical and emotional well-being.

Fall Health Tip #7 - Make sure you're up to date on your flu shot and other important vaccines!💉⏰Infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems (like those undergoing cancer treatment) are especially vulnerable to vaccine preventable diseases. By making sure you're up to date, you help protect yourself and those around you!🛡️😷
