At Health Career Connection, we don’t just develop interns, we help shape the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Alex Velasco’s journey is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when students are given meaningful experience, mentorship, and a platform to serve their communities!

During his internship with NAMI Merced County, Alex:
✨ Led the creation and rollout of bilingual mental health awareness materials used online and in print.
✨ Helped shape a Su***de Awareness Month campaign through evidence-based research and content design.
✨ Built confidence in public speaking and community outreach, where he engaged community members and advocated for mental health support.
✨ Gained firsthand insight into local behavioral health systems.

Through it all, he strengthened his communication, design, leadership skills, and reaffirmed his passion for healthcare and community service.

This is the impact of HCC, real projects, real growth, real change.
Our interns don’t just learn about healthcare. They help transform it.
