Health Career Connection (HCC) is a nonprofit dedicated to providing undergraduate students with exposure, experience and mentoring to achieve a successful health career. HCC is the connection between students and the information, experiences and support they need to discover and make well-informed choices about healthcare and public health career options.

🔊 Don’t just hear it from us, listen to what our interns have to say!

Asim Wahab’s summer with Health Career Connection didn’t just clarify his career goals, it reshaped the way he understands healthcare as a whole!

Through his internship at HealthForce Partners, Asim saw firsthand how workforce shortages, educational pipelines, structural barriers, data, and policy all influence the care patients receive long before they enter a clinic.

By building databases, analyzing workforce trends, and contributing to the Healthcare Capacity Hub, he discovered how his passion for research and data can align with his long-term goal of becoming a physician-scientist.

Workshops, mentorship, and alumni panels also helped him strengthen his voice as a future leader in health equity, advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Asim leaves the program with a clearer vision of the impact he wants to make, inside and outside of clinical settings! He has a renewed commitment to pursuing an MD–PhD to address structural barriers in healthcare and we wish him the best of luck!
