Does Tylenol cause Autism???
Let’s break it down...
Tylenol is a brand name of acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is a known NEUROTOXIN. That is actually how painkillers work: they interfere with the brain and nervous system.
Is it possible that exposure to neurotoxins during fetal development may increase the risk of AUTISM? First let’s ask, is autism a neurological disorder? Why, yes it is. Can neurotoxins cause neurological disorders? Of course!
Is the use of Tylenol during pregnancy THE cause of autism? I don’t know. I think there are many potential causes and contributions, including genetics and neurotoxins (of which there are MANY).
MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHY ARE WOMEN TAKING TYLENOL DURING PREGNANCY, AND WHAT CAN WE DO TO LIMIT THEIR NEED FOR PAIN KILLERS?
This, as a chiropractor, is the big question! Women often have back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, neck pain, and headaches because of all the physical and hormonal changes in their body during pregnancy. There is an alternative to TYLENOL!!! You guessed it, it’s CHIROPRACTIC! Chiropractic during pregnancy is safe and effective for pain reduction, and can help the mom and fetus have healthier nervous systems.
So, instead of ingesting neurotoxins for pain, let’s encourage everybody to get CHIROPRACTIC CARE. This is not limited to pregnancy; it applies to everyone!
