Our team of wellness facilitators educate in the art of self-care. Our mission is to create a wellness sanctuary. CORE VALUES:

The best memories I have are all the special connections we made. You all have touched our hearts, and I hope the feeling is mutual!

Thank you. Really. From the bottom of my heart. For making Bayan Roots such an amazing and worthwhile experience.

I will be messaging back here when my new spot is up and running. (Which the space is actually more so how I originally envisioned Bayan Roots!) Still nearby in Oakland. Currently, I'll be accepting previous Bayan Roots' clients for masked, Covid protocol sessions, and I will open to new clients hopefully in the near future.

Ps. As a side note, which is very much the 'sweet' part of bittersweet, I was definitely one of those people who benefited from "The Great Pause." Dearest clients, family, and friends,

I'm writing to you because this week is Bayan Roots' 5th Anniversary! And with that big milestone, I want to announce some bittersweet news. As many of you know, we have shut down operations since March due to Covid quarantine. Alameda county has since reopened massage therapy, but honestly, we have not felt comfortable reopening to full capacity.

With a heavy heart, I am closing down Bayan Roots as a multiple practitioner practice indefinitely. Building business back up to full volume under these current conditions, with Covid cases on the rise again, and our staff down to two practitioners, is just not something I'm interested in doing, to be honest.

Bayan Roots will be shifting to a private, solo practice at a new location.

We had an amazing run! 4.25 years of being your local favorite massage spot with an all-star crew of therapists. I wouldn't change one bit. We set out to make some waves in the massage industry. Creating a welcoming, safer, community based environment for more bodies. Q***r ones, Transgender ones. Black and brown ones. Fat and differently abled ones.

*URGENT* COMMUNITY REQUEST:
My big sister Deanna is a black trans woman who deserves the world and her flowers first and foremost. she has the sweetest laugh and isn’t afraid to let a bitch know what’s up. She’s fought for her life, ALL of her life and will still soften up to those she trusts and loves. She’s one of the most powerful women I know and im gonna need y’all to show the f**k up right now for my girl.
Deanna was recently held in jail FOR A MONTH after being physically assaulted and none of us knew until she was released in the middle of the night last week. Before that she had spent over a year rebuilding her entire life from previously being incarcerated for 15 years. Because she was thrown in jail and held there for a month, she lost everything she owned and worked for. Everything she was able to build for herself: housing, clothes, all the things she wanted for herself — all of it is gone. All she has now are the clothes she left jail with and a temporary stay at a hotel here in Oakland that my friends were able to get for her for a week.
ITS TIME TO SHOW UP. WE ARE RAISING 10K FOR MY BIG SIS TO ASSIST IN HER REBUILDING OF HER LIFE YET AGAIN AND WE’RE GONNA GET MY SISTER HER COIN. I ALSO ASK THAT ANYONE WHO CAN ASSIST WITH SUPPORT IN FINDING PERMANENT HOUSING FOR HER THAT WILL BE *SAFE* FOR A BLACK TRANS WOMAN TO HIT ME UP.

: Breonna Taylor should be turning 27 today. She was an essential worker, an EMT who protected all of us, but wasn't treated like she was essential by police, who broke into HER home (they had the wrong house), and riddled her with bullets. We can’t talk about police brutality without talking about the countless Black women who are targeted, killed and often forgotten. The FBI has announced an investigation into her murder, but Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer still hasn't fired the officers that were involved.

Yesterday I happened to feel resourced enough broach the topic of protesting for on a family text. We NEVER talk about race and racism. As if not talking about it excludes us from experiencing it. As if our proximity to whiteness saves us from it.

Let’s keep digging and having those hard convos, fam. I know some of y’all are still working through internalized racism too. It’s painful, and uncomfortable, and scary, I know... i’m still unpacking it too. But we’re not going to make lasting change unless we’re all on board.
