Over 6 years ago, Japanese Americans first organized a protest outside of a family detention center in Dilley, TX located just miles from the Crystal City WWII detention site. A few months later, Japanese American elders faced arrest outside Fort Sill in Oklahoma to stop a mass child detention site from opening. After years of organizing alongside communities and organizations impacted by child and family detention, we helped end the use of family and child detention in mass congregate sites under the Biden administration and got all families released.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration shamefully revived the practice of family detention. It was unacceptable when our families were separated under the Alien Enemies Act and incarcerated under Executive Order 9066, it was unacceptable when families were separated and incarcerated under the first administration and continued to be incarcerated under the Biden administration, and it is unacceptable that families are currently being held at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley again.

This Mother’s Day, we’re joining longtime partner organizations, those we’ve previously worked with to shut down family detention sites and end child detention, to continue the fight. We need your help:

this piece pretty much took las palabras right outta my mouth. i've been stringing a montage of images in my mind of all the countries, people and lands that the united states of israel has pummeled to death since those shady brits bewilderingly landed on Turtle Island. their s**t has been destroying our precious planet since... and the Palestinian Holocaust is its current genocidal project.

"Resistance is born in grief. Resistance is organized in tragedy. Resistance is bigger than this moment and this day. But it IS what becomes of us in the hardest hour.

Resistance is not one man, one group or one plan. It is the energy conjured by all of us irrespective of our backgrounds, our nations, or our cause. The binary of hyperconsumeristic colonialism versus the humanitarian majority has been carved out clearly.

Resistance is in how we experience trauma and tragedy and get up and demand freedom from tyranny more loudly than we did before. “You are not defeated as long as you are resisting.”
