Amba Yoga Offering vinyasa flow yoga classes in East Bay studios as well as community classes outside. Donations are welcomed but not expected.

Offering free yoga classes around the Bay Area, mostly in parks but wherever there is a beautiful and open spot. If someone needs a mat just message me, otherwise all you have to do is bring yourself :)

Happy full moon!

I’m sure many of us are feeling that extra energy this week. for me it often shows up as insomnia, lack of concentration, or heightened emotions. We can embrace that extra energy and channel into creating and accomplishing, or sparking change, connecting with community.

Sometimes it’s helpful to be able to pause, breathe and recognize what’s going on for yourself- yoga and meditation is a wonderful way to achieve this.

Forward folds, deep breathing, legs up the wall… are just some simple poses that you can do to help calm and relax your mind.

Join me the next few mornings as we begin with deep belly breathing, and focus on releasing our hamstrings and keeping focus as we work on challenging balancing postures.

This week we’ll focus on opening our hips, strengthening our core, arms and shoulders to build into Eka Pada Galavasana a.k.a. Flying Piegeon Pose

Hips often store heavy emotions, memories and stressors.

As we work to open our hips this week, I encourage you to become aware and make space for all the emotions and thoughts to arise.

And to practice showing compassion and love towards yourself.

In addition we’ll keep a strong focus on regulating our breath as we hold difficult postures.

Practicing steady and conscious breathing while experiencing stressful postures on the mat, can show up in our daily lives off the mat.

We learn to breathe through stressful and heavy situations which allow us to regulate our central nervous system and move out of our flight or fight response system.

Come join this week for some stretching, strengthening and healing yoga:)

Skandasana: skanda- attacker asana- pose… a pose that prepares us for attacking, for leaping into action and taking on whatever comes our way with confidence, strength, ability and fearlessness.
It also opens our hips, strengthens the core, and improves balance.
We don’t know what tomorrow brings, but we do know that strengthening our mind and body will help us be prepared for whatever comes our way.

This week we will dive into understanding what it means to set and intention for your practice, and how that intention can present itself throughout your day. And with focus can be achieved.

A lot of work with Warrior III and bird of paradise. Two challenging balancing postures. They develop strength, flexibility and focus.

All of these attributes can be applied to achieving our goals and strengthening our minds.

Plus they’re fun!:)
