Attending the opening theatrical release of the award-winning indie narrative feature “Paper Bag Plan” with film’s Writer & Director Anthony Lucero (East Side Sushi) at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theater. Enjoyed creating the portrait illustration of film’s character leads (Cole Massie & Lance Kinsey) and title design used on the backdrop display. Two lovely women hanging at Bob Dylan's "Slow Train Coming" tour concert at the Fox Warfield in SF late 1979. Before the show, shot some great portrait photos of Maria Muldaur for Right On (pre-Radix Magazine) with editor Sharon Gallagher. At Maria's invitation, we sat with her for a fabulous evening. RIP & Glory Sharon! — KC

On May 1, 1929, Lei Day was established in Hawaii.
On May 1, 1977 two people made a commitment to love and support one another through the good and the hard times. But for the breast cancer that took (Eliza) Beth Ann Henry to her eternal home (O Ke Akua) four years ago, today marks what would have been a celebration of 48 special years together. Max made the cut...

Years ago, I was asked to contribute art work for a special art exhibit on Endangered Species at the former Marine World • Africa USA Theme park of old in Vallejo, CA. I headed to the Oakland zoo to take a few reference photos of their chimps for my contribution. At the art exhibit, I was standing next to a few staff from the Oakland Zoo looking at my chimp drawing and suddenly one exclaimed with excitement…”it’s Max!” …amazing, they recognized my subject!

“Max” was recently accepted in the prize-winning top 46 of 395 Artists from 35 countries by the Teravarna Online Art Gallery 11th Annual “Animal” International Juried Art Competition. Conte and chalks on gray Canson paper: 27”x 18”
