This , we honor the progress Malawi continues to make in the fight to end HIV/AIDS, and the role GAIA plays in helping drive that momentum forward. With support from GAIA’s proven, community-centered programs, Malawi remains a global leader, with over 86% of people living with HIV achieving viral suppression and the country steadily advancing toward its 2030 epidemic-control goals.
There’s still work to be done; in 2025 alone, through consistent testing of pregnant women, GAIA identified 32 positive cases of HIV and connected these women to treatment, helping them prevent transmission of the virus to their infants.
GAIA stands firmly alongside Malawi’s communities and health workers, strengthening primary healthcare and supporting a resilient local health workforce every step of the way.
