What do you do when your anxiety is up the roof?

How you handle stress/overwhelm?

Do you have any practices/techniques to lean on?

If no, I have a little “treat” for you.

Attached is a self help “tookkit” I created the other day. I sent it out via email to my newsletter community but I thought it would be helpful to share here too (just incase you aren’t apart of the newsletter).

Check it out. Take what resonates. Leave what doesn’t. Hope it helps a bit.

The best thing I ever did for myself was calm tf down 😌

I used to live entirely in my head. Worried, concerned, always thinking about the next thing to do. I was someone who lived in the present moment physically but mentally and spiritually I was somewhere else on my spaceship (dissociated).

If I had too much “free” time, I had to fill that time with something — entertainment, distraction, busy work, etc. I couldn’t just be alone “bored” w my thoughts…it would drive me insane.

This worked for me until it no longer worked. I knew a change had to happen because the way I was living life was NOT it!

And so after years of living on my “space ship,” I was ready to come down back to earth.

I discovered ways to be okay in the present moment. I learned new practices, techniques, tools that I can use to assist me with “boredom,” to remain calm even in the most chaotic moments, & to genuinely feel at peace with being here, now.

A calm mind is EVERYTHING!

It loosens the grip of anxiety, worry, and overwhelm. It allows space for clarity & to be grounded in your body. It serves as ‘medicine’ not only for the mental but for the physical as well!

Some ways that help me calm my mind & that may be helpful for you can include—

— breathing (deliberately & w intention): taking slow, deep, long belly breaths. Inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 4 seconds, exhaling out the mouth for 4 seconds.

— listening to soothing music like lofi sounds, white noise, cafe music, 963 frequency hz music.

— practicing mindfulness & meditation (being present, using the senses, noticing, being curious, and doing so without judgment, shame, or trying to change what’s happening).

— allowing thoughts to come and go. Not taking thoughts personal or as “truth,” and instead accepting thoughts as thoughts.

The mind is like water. The more turbulent it is, the more difficult it is to see. When it’s calm, everything seemingly becomes clearer.

Does this resonate?

If you ever wake up thinking I just don’t want to be here…

Maybe these 5 principles can be your reminder to help guide you through it and get you back to you.

Don’t wait tells us to feel what we are feeling right now, to do what needs to be done right now, to not put life off for later. To experience now. To be here, now.

Welcome it all and push nothing away invites us be open, to be accepting of all what life presents to us, including the pain, suffering, and ‘difficult’ emotions, as they are part of this human experience.

Bring yourself to the experience invites us to be wholeheartedly, authentically, ourselves and to be fully present with whatever that is, rather than holding back or pretending.

Find a place of rest in the midst of it all invites us to find moments of stillness, peace, and self-care even in the middle of the chaos.

Let yourself not know invites us to embrace the uncertainty and let go of the need for answers or certainty, letting ourselves be curious about what is unfolding moment to moment in our lives.

5 ways to come back to the present moment, to embrace the now.

With alll the destruction & chaos taking place in the world, it can take a toll on our emotional, spiritual, & physical wellbeing.

While it may feel hard to take a step back from it all to nurture and care for yourself, it is critical that we find the time to do so anyway. We must prioritize ourselves and fill our own cups, especially now more than ever.

This post offers 6 suggestions of what you can do to help yourself. What are some other suggestions you can think of?

How long does it take to build a new habit? You’d be surprised to learn…

Research has shown that it can take as little as 8 weeks (sometimes sooner) to build a new habit into your daily routine.

Okay so now how do you actually do that though in practice?

Be realistic. Start small. Stay consistent. See if you can ‘stack’ the new habit with an older habit that you already do. Reward yourself, even if it’s just telling yourself — “I’m proud of you.” And give yourself grace, patience, & compassion along the way.

Which of these habits can you see yourself starting? Do you already do any of these? Something else? Share in the comments.

What if when you let go of wanting control, you gain control?

This is a lovely & powerful quote I found from Elizabeth Gilbert. And I learned that it’s a quote taken from her book “Big Magic.” I’d have to check that book out.

But what are your thoughts? What does this quote mean to you? Does it resonate?

“It Is What It Is” Mindfulness Meditation guided by me ◡̈

In a world filled with stress and uncertainty, the saying, “It is what it is" can often times be ENOUGH to encourage us to tap into inner peace by acknowledging & surrendering to the reality of our circumstances. Through this practice, let us use the guidance of breath to soften any resistance & lean into “what is” with ease.
