If you do one thing this show season… let it be preventative care.
●
You put hundreds of hours into training.
Thousands of dollars to get you here.
●
The first couple of weeks go great — you’re moving up the ribbons as each week goes on, hoping by the end of the circuit to bring home a division championship.
●
But then the rails start coming down: unexplained stopping, bucking during the lead change, and tossing the head during your courtesy circle. What happened? Nothing’s changed! Why all of a sudden has your horse’s performance gone down, even though you both are at peak fitness and more comfortable in the show ring than you’ve been since last winter season?
●
Maybe your saddle fits great — it’s been checked 3x by the most qualified fitter in the area.
You’ve got the best of the best farrier, and the vet says, “You’re good to go!”
So WHY, when it matters most, are your rounds getting worse rather than better??
●
The simple answer? Soreness.
Muscle fatigue. Overuse without sufficient rest.
●
You may not be showing every single week...but you are schooling 5-6 days a week harder than you do at home...then going to show 3 days in a row...and repeat....for 3 months straight.
●
It may not seem like much, but keeping those muscles supple and relieving tension BEFORE it begins to turn into “knots” and “adhesions” is one of the best ways to prevent injuries. When one muscle begins to hold tension where it shouldn’t, it changes the way the joints are loading, altering tension in tendons and ligaments. So you’re not only relieving soreness with bodywork — you’re taking unnecessary strain off other vital components that keep our horses sound and happy in their jobs. You're giving relief to the WHOLE system!
Horses are amazing, giving creatures who can be more stoic than we realize when it comes to discomfort.
●
Please, don’t wait until week 12 to find a bodyworker. Let’s start preventative care at week 3 so you and your horse can put in the winning rounds you deserve!

I want my clients to succeed and I want them and their horses to be in the best physical shape of their lives, to enjoy the Florida sunshine and go home at the end of season with contentment that you did the best for your equine partner. 🏆
