NATIONAL STOP BULLYING DAY 2023

On National Stop Bullying Day, MCSO wants to remind our young citizens to do their part in taking a stand against bullying! Some ways to help are by reporting incidents of bullying, respecting those around you, and working to ensure your peers feel valued and protected. Below is a definition of bullying and several examples of ways in which bullying may occur.

Today, and every day, let us all work together to Stop Bullying!

"Bullying is the systematic and chronic inflicting of physical hurt or psychological distress on one or more individuals. It is further defined as unwanted and repeated written, verbal, or physical behavior, including any threatening, insulting, or dehumanizing gesture, by a student or adult, that is severe or pervasive enough to create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive educational environment; cause discomfort or humiliation; or unreasonably interfere with the individual’s school performance or participation, and may involve but is not limited to:"

- Unwanted teasing
- Social exclusion
- Threat
- Intimidation
- Stalking
- Physical violence
- Theft
- Sexual, religious, or racial harassment
- Public humiliation
- Destruction of school or victim’s personal property
- Rumor or spreading of falsehoods.
