Recently, our team was honored with a beautiful gesture of gratitude from Mrs. Dottie, who hosted a special lunch to thank our teammates for the care they provided her husband. She shared that The Shores is “the place you want to be — surrounded by people who truly care.”

Her kindness meant the world to our teammates, who give their hearts every day to ensure residents feel safe, supported, and truly at home.

At The Shores, the safety and wellbeing of our residents always come first — and we’re grateful for community partners who help make that possible. 💙

This week, we were pleased to welcome the Ocean City Police Department New Jersey/ OCPD, who shared valuable information with our residents about staying safe. We learned important tips on how to spot and avoid phone and email scams, and had an inside look at the department’s Drone Program and K‑9 Unit featuring Onyx the bloodhound. 🐾

Thank you to the Ocean City Police for taking the time to educate and support our residents. We truly appreciate all you do to help keep our community safe and informed.

We are thrilled to celebrate the 100th birthday of Richard Shoemaker, a beloved resident of The Shores. He was honored with a Key to the City by Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian just days before celebrating his century of life — shaped by service, family, and meaningful relationships. 💙

After 75 years of marriage to his late wife, Betty, Richard found renewed companionship through a close friendship with fellow resident Sylvia Erb, a beautiful example of how connection and friendship continue to enrich life at every stage.

We’re grateful to 6abc Action News for covering our special presentation and helping share Richard’s remarkable story.

🎉🐾 A paw-ty to remember! 🐾🎉

Our beloved therapy dog, Melly, is officially seven years old! From the moment she walked into our community, Melly has had a way of brightening days, lifting spirits, and bringing people together in the simplest (and furriest) way.

Whether she’s making her rounds with tail wags and kisses or settling in for a cuddle, Melly continues to be a constant source of joy for our residents and teammates alike. Happy Birthday, sweet Melly 💕🎂

Our Dining Services team mixed things up with a pop‑up waffle bar, turning lunchtime into a build‑your‑own treat. We enjoyed classic sweet favorites like fresh fruit, whipped cream, syrups, and sprinkles — alongside savory options that added a delicious twist!
..Another reason dining at The Shores is never boring. 😏

From gentle stretches that improve flexibility, to resistance bands and light weights that build strength and support balance, every fitness class at The Shores is designed to keep residents moving with confidence and having fun while they do it.

💙 A Meaningful Conversation About Brain Health💙

We were honored to host our “Brain Health Forum: Strategies for Prevention and Support” – welcoming experts in neurology, psychology, caregiving, and community education. Over brunch, attendees gained insight into early intervention, brain‑healthy strategies, and resources that support individuals and families facing cognitive change.

A clear message resonated throughout the event: knowledge empowers, early awareness matters, and no one has to face this journey alone. We’re grateful to our panelists and community partners for helping us continue this important dialogue.
